The Women's Section in the Central Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir Concludes its Global Campaign:
"The War in Sudan: A Story of Colonialism, Betrayal, and Disappointment"
(Translated)
Over the past two months, the Women's Section in the Central Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir launched a global campaign to raise international awareness and highlight the horrific humanitarian crisis caused by the conflict in Sudan, which has been ongoing for three and a half years. This absurd conflict, between the Sudanese Armed Forces led by Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and the Rapid Support Forces led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), has been described as a "forgotten war" due to the lack of media coverage and global attention it deserves.
The campaign, entitled "The War in Sudan: A Story of Colonialism, Betrayal, and Disappointment," addressed the following topics:
1- The catastrophic humanitarian crisis resulting from the conflict, which has killed tens of thousands of innocent civilians, including women and children, and led to the world's largest displacement and hunger crisis, with starvation being used as a weapon of war by various parties, in addition to abductions, torture, ethnic cleansing, and widespread sexual violence, including reported gang rape.
2- The history of Islam's entry into Sudan through peaceful spread and its shaping of the country's political, judicial, administrative, and economic life, and creating a prosperous life for its people, for example under the Funj Sultanate.
3- The immense geopolitical importance of Sudan, such as its strategic location on the Red Sea - a vital global maritime trade route, in addition to its abundant fertile agricultural land and natural resources - including oil, natural gas, gold, and uranium. All of this has made it a target for international and regional powers that have competed with each other for hegemony and control over the country, including supporting various factions within wars - past and present.
4- How Western colonial powers, such as Britain, France, and America, historically laid the foundation for conflict in Sudan through their "divide and rule" colonial policies that fueled tensions and divisions between various ethnic, tribal, and religious groups, all to secure their interests and influence in the country. This external political interference has caused Sudan to be in a constant state of conflict since its independence from Britain to this day.
5- What life was like under the dictatorship of Omar al-Bashir; the terrorism, brutal repression, severe economic hardship, and civil war that people faced under his rule, in addition to his manipulation of Sharia to justify his abuse of those who opposed his rule. And how Al-Burhan and Hemedti were among his followers and remnants of his regime.
6- The politics of previous conflicts in Sudan, such as the civil war between the North and the South, and the Darfur conflict, and how they were a result of British colonial rule, American intervention in the country, and the rule of Omar al-Bashir, all fueling divisions between people for political gain.
7- The politics of the current conflict in Sudan, which is in fact a power struggle between America's agents (Al-Burhan and Hemedti) and Britain's agents (Forces of Freedom and Change) to dominate Sudan after the overthrow of Omar al-Bashir in 2019. Many regional and international powers, such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Russia, and China, have also fueled the conflict and supported one side against the other in order to gain a share in Sudan's wealth and strategic importance.
8- How the Khilafah alone can bring glory to Sudan. This point addressed how the Framework Agreement is a product inspired by colonialism based on Western beliefs and culture, aimed at creating a democratic, federal, parliamentary, and secular state whose laws are made by the people instead of being derived from the Qur'an and Sunnah. This seeks to distance the Muslims of Sudan from their religion and lead Sudan down another path of failure and division, as has been the case in both Western countries and Islamic countries. Rather, the Khilafah state on the Prophetic method, which implements God's law and system in its entirety, is the only one capable of ending colonial interference in Sudan, achieving success in the political, economic, and social fields, and all aspects of life, removing divisions, uniting its people and army, and finding political leaders who are guardians of their subjects.
The campaign included extensive interaction on global electronic media in various languages, including the publication of dozens of articles, hundreds of posts and posters, and a number of videos, including:
"The War in Sudan: Gold, Guns, and Geopolitics"
"The Khilafah Alone Will Restore Sudan's Glory"
The campaign also included panel discussions in Arabic and English explaining the causes and consequences of the current conflict, and how the Khilafah system, not the democratic model, is the practical solution to the many problems facing Sudan.
Although the campaign has ended, the Women's Section in the Central Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir will continue to raise awareness of the politics of the conflict in Sudan, its agendas and consequences, in addition to ways to end the suffering of its people, solve their problems, and build a brighter future for their country under the Khilafah state.
