Pakistani Leadership Hosts a Regional Defense Conference
To Promote America's Interests Instead of Mobilizing to Support Gaza
News:
The media wing of the Pakistani Armed Forces, Inter-Services Public Relations, announced on July 26, 2025, that Pakistan hosted the Regional Chiefs of Defense Staff Conference in Islamabad today, with the participation of senior military leaders from the United States, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The media wing's statement indicated that "this multilateral event is an important step towards strengthening regional security cooperation, military diplomacy, and strategic dialogue among participating countries." The conference was held under the slogan "Strengthening Ties, Securing Peace" and sought to enhance security cooperation, develop training programs, and exchange best practices in combating terrorism and other defense and security efforts.
Comment:
Pakistan's rulers have reaffirmed their commitment to the American regional vision by organizing an important regional security conference that included Muslim army leaders from Pakistan and Central Asian countries under American patronage. At a time when the armies of Muslims are being urged to take urgent action to save Gaza and uproot the Jewish entity, the Pakistani army chief is preoccupied with a conference intended to direct the region towards the American agenda, by combating what is called "political Islam" in a coordinated manner under the guise of combating terrorism and extremism.
This conference is a unique initiative launched by the Pakistani army chief, bringing together military leaders from Central Asia and the US Central Command. America was represented by General Michael E. Kurilla, commander of the US Central Command. The conference focused on strengthening commitment to three main American goals in the region: combating terrorism, regional stability, and military coordination, as is clear in the conference statement. These three axes constitute the core of the US Central Command's objectives, and Pakistan is the cornerstone for achieving these goals.
To understand America's moves and the importance of Pakistan in this context, it is necessary to read the broader geopolitical landscape:
First: Central and South Asia are two major Islamic regions where the human power of South Asia meets the energy wealth of Central Asia. Afghanistan forms the bridge between the two regions. Due to its strategic location, demographics, and natural resources, strategic competition has intensified between America, Russia, and China in these regions, where rivalries are focused on access to energy, vital minerals, and connectivity corridors. Due to Russia's weakness as a result of the long war with Ukraine, America and China have become prominent actors in Central and South Asia. Despite America's withdrawal from Afghanistan after a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Taliban, it has re-entered the region through its trusted agents in the Pakistani military establishment.
Second: The return of a Republican administration led by the arrogant Trump has opened the way for the Pakistani army leadership to play a greater role in America's regional plans. The Biden administration reduced its level of engagement and interests with Pakistan after the withdrawal from Afghanistan, with the exception of cooperation in fighting Islam. Trump met with the Pakistani army chief, General Asim Munir, during a luncheon in an unprecedented move during his visit to America. Munir also met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other American officials to obtain his new directives.
Hosting the defense leaders of Central Asian countries after these high-level meetings between Pakistan and the United States indicates that Pakistan is ready to direct Central and South Asia in line with American interests. Russian and Chinese suspicions towards Pakistan are likely to increase after these developments. In addition to securing regional security cooperation under American patronage, Pakistan is accelerating the pace of regional connectivity projects such as new trade and transport routes. For example, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan recently signed a tripartite framework agreement on a railway project. Other projects underway at various stages of implementation include: the gas pipeline (Turkmenistan - Afghanistan - Pakistan - India), the Trans-Afghanistan Railway project, the CASA-1000 project for the transmission of electricity between Central and South Asia, and the TUTAP project to connect energy between Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. All of these projects enjoy American support and aim to disconnect Central Asian countries from Russia and China through Pakistan.
It is unfortunate that the United States and other major powers are exploiting Islamic regions rich in energy, mineral wealth, and military capabilities. The fall of the Caliphate at the hands of the disbelieving West in 1924 AD led to the dismantling of the strength of the Islamic nation and its fragmentation into artificial statelets. In addition to this dismantling, the West imposed ruling elites linked to it ideologically, limited in their vision, and constituting an obstacle to the unification of the Muslim lands under the Caliphate. The Pakistani military leadership is no different from the rest of the secular institutions in the Islamic world. If it had a real will and a sincere vision, it would have combined the energy in the Gulf and Central Asia and the human power in South Asia under the Caliphate. That is still possible, and it has become even more urgent in light of America's weakness and its dependence on Pakistan to carry out its regional tasks. More importantly, the nation is now ready for radical change.
The sincere elements in the Pakistani military establishment must hasten to establish the Caliphate so that the nation's strength can be restored, and an end can be put to the extermination and occupation in the lands of the Muslims. The coming Caliphate will unite the leaders of the Muslim armies to move to liberate Palestine and Kashmir instead of wasting time in empty conferences that serve foreign agendas. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Allah showed me the earth, and I saw its eastern and western parts, and the dominion of my Ummah will reach as far as I have seen." Sahih Muslim. And Allah Almighty said in the Holy Quran: ﴿It is He who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion, although the polytheists dislike it.﴾.
