The Yemeni Islah Party, the Islamic Face in the Government
Claims Islam While Being Far From It!
Muhammad Abdullah al-Yadoumi, head of the Supreme Authority of the Yemeni Islah Party, delivered a speech on the eve of Friday, September 12, 2025, on the occasion of the thirty-fifth anniversary of the party's founding, which coincided with September 13. The speech, which was broadcast by Suhayl channel and lasted for more than forty minutes, included the party's position on local and international issues.
The Yemeni Islah Party was founded on September 13, 1990, a few months after the declaration of Yemeni unity between the north and the south, under the leadership of Sheikh Abdullah bin Hussein al-Ahmar (Sheikh of the Hashid tribe), which gave it tribal and political weight. Al-Islah participated in the first parliamentary elections in 1993, and won about 62 seats out of 301. It formed a tripartite coalition with the General People's Congress led by the deceased Ali Abdullah Saleh and the Yemeni Socialist Party to run the state, but after the summer war of 1994 and the withdrawal of the Socialist Party, Al-Islah became a key partner of the General People's Congress in government. Despite its transformation into the opposition after 1997, it remained a partner in power through the House of Representatives, and its cadres held positions in various government institutions until 2011, when it became a major player and its members held important ministerial positions in what is called legitimacy.
Despite its president's denial of its association with the Muslim Brotherhood, it has been a political and intellectual extension of the group since its inception. The party affirms in its internal regulations that Islam is its approach to political and social reform, and it is considered in the eyes of the people the Islamic face of the government because it raises the slogan of Islam. The truth of the matter is that Islam is not just slogans raised, but a comprehensive and complete system of life, and no state applies it today. The world today is ruled by the capitalist principle, and these parties that raise the slogan of Islam call for ideas emanating from the capitalist principle, such as democracy, republic, absolute freedoms, usury, joint-stock companies, gender, working with the charters of the United Nations, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and corrupt and degenerate ties such as nationalism. Whoever calls for these ideas that contradict Islam is secular, even if he raises the slogan of Islam, and their raising the slogan of Islam is intended to deceive people so that they rally around them because people are loyal to their religion and creed.
Al-Yadoumi's speech does not need contemplation and scrutiny to notice the amount of secularism it contained and its distance from Islam, which God made a law and a way of life, religion and state. He described his party as one of the beacons of democratic construction in our country, and repeated the word homeland and nationalism. He also touched on the sovereignty of the republic, the gains of the republican system, and appealing to the United Nations and other terms. Therefore, we found it our duty to clarify some things so that the image becomes clear to people so that they realize the difference between Islam and the capitalist principle and the concepts emanating from it:
The capitalist principle is based on the separation of religion from life, and this idea is its creed. Based on this intellectual rule, man was the one who set his system in life, and it was necessary to preserve freedoms for man, which are freedom of religion, freedom of opinion, freedom of ownership, and personal freedom. The capitalist economic system resulted from freedom of ownership, so capitalism was the most prominent thing in this principle, and the most prominent thing that resulted from the creed of this principle, so it was called the capitalist principle, from the point of view of naming the thing with the most prominent thing in it. The origin of the emergence of this principle is that the emperors and kings in Europe and Russia were using religion as a means of exploiting and oppressing peoples and sucking their blood, and they were taking religious men as a means to that. This resulted in a terrible conflict during which philosophers and thinkers arose, some of whom denied religion altogether, and some of whom recognized religion but called for its separation from life, until the opinion settled with the majority of philosophers and thinkers on one idea, which is the separation of religion from life, and naturally this resulted in the separation of religion from the state. Is Islam incomplete until we abandon it and take capitalism instead?! Woe to what they do!
As for democracy, which this capitalist principle has adopted, it comes from the fact that man is the one who sets his system, and therefore the nation is the source of powers. It is the one that sets the systems, and it is the one that hires the ruler to rule it, and removes the rule from him whenever it wants, and sets for him the system that it wants, because the rule is a lease contract between the people and the ruler to rule according to the system that the people set for him to rule with. As it transferred sovereignty and authority to the people and made it the source of powers in the state, including the legislative authority that enacts constitutions and laws. As for Islam, it made the source of legislation the revelation, and constitutions and laws are derived exclusively from its texts only through a legitimate understanding carried out by scholars, not positive legislators. Therefore, Islam defined sovereignty for Sharia, not for the people, and this is a stark contradiction between Islam and democracy, so that the politician cannot be a democrat unless he renounces Islam, and rebels against the texts of revelation that order adherence to God's law and rejection of what is below it. God Almighty said: ﴿And whoever does not judge by what God has revealed - then it is those who are the disbelievers.﴾
As for the national bond that they call for, it is shared by humans, animals, and birds, and it only appears when the soul, land, and country are exposed to danger, whether by attack or seizure, and it disappears after this danger has passed. Therefore, it can be said that this bond is not worthy of a person to take as a reason for his gathering as long as it is low, emotional, and temporary. It is based on loyalty to the state that rules according to the secular system and sanctifies the artificial geographical boundaries that were created by the Sykes-Picot Agreement, which divided the Muslim countries into weak states, which requires the creation of identities to justify differences and fuel hatred and hatred between those who were in the recent past sons of one nation with deep roots in history. Nationalism is not a legitimate criterion for the Islamic nation, as loyalty must be to God. Nationalism in its current concept has been devoted to justifying obedience to unjust governments and secular regimes and to preserving the cardboard states, even though Islam has forbidden Muslims from having more than one ruler. Rather, it ordered the overthrow of the head of the second ruler if an imam appears to the Muslims who rules them, and it devoted recognition of independence, that is, the independence of the Islamic countries from each other and their fragmentation, so the nation that God commanded to be one was divided, so it weakened before its enemies, and nationalism was an abhorrent arrow that enabled the infidel colonizer to occupy the country and suck its blood and wealth. God Almighty said: ﴿Have you not seen those who claim that they have believed in what was revealed to you and what was revealed before you? They wish to refer judgment to Taghut, while they were commanded to disbelieve in him. And Satan wishes to lead them far astray.﴾ And God Almighty said: ﴿Indeed, this, your nation, is one nation, and I am your Lord, so worship Me.﴾
As for what is called international law, it arose and existed against the Islamic state when it was represented in the Ottoman Caliphate; because it, as an Islamic state, invaded Europe, declaring jihad, and began to conquer its countries country by country, carrying the message of Islam to save its peoples from the tyranny of kings and the priesthood of the church and its men, until it reached the walls of Vienna, so panic and fear possessed the hearts of the Crusader kings and feudal lords over their authority, so this law is the one that is sponsored by the United Nations, which implements the plans of the colonizers, and has a black history. It arose after the Second World War after signing the charter establishing it at the San Francisco Conference, on an American initiative in 1945, the heir to what was called the League of Nations, which in turn inherited the international family that arose in Europe in the sixteenth century, to confront the danger of Islam, so this organization with its Security Council, has become today an American tool to serve its projects and colonial plans against Islam and Muslims in particular, and the world in general, then comes those who appeal to them and seek shelter in their shadow and resort to their envoys! Do they not understand?!
In conclusion: Islam is a religion and a global system that came to treat the interests of people with truth and justice. It is a religion and a system revealed by revelation, and it is complete and perfect, with no deficiency or weakness. God Almighty said: ﴿This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion.﴾ So a great global system and a complete and perfect heavenly religion, how can one imagine, let alone be a Muslim, that it lacks a device for government until it is brought to it a system made by humans?! Does this not indicate accusing this religion and this system of deficiency, and thus denying His saying: ﴿This day I have perfected for you your religion﴾?! The complete and perfect has no deficiency until it is compensated by other religions and systems. Therefore, Muslims must limit themselves to the system of Islam alone, which is the caliphate system, and reject all others.
O our people in Yemen: We in Hizb ut-Tahrir call on you and all Muslims with all sincerity, honesty and awareness to stay away from those who promote working with the laws of the United Nations and Western concepts such as democracy, secularism, the republican system, etc., and who fan the flames of sectarianism and sectarianism that contradict your true religion, and to work with us to implement Islam completely and fully, and to preserve our Islamic identity, and to participate in the work to restore the system of governance with Islam under the second Rightly Guided Caliphate according to the method of Prophethood. God Almighty said: ﴿O you who have believed, respond to God and to the Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life.﴾
