Lebanese Detainees and Syrian Prisoners in Idlib
A Thorn in the Side of the Transitional Administration That Must Be Extracted
News:
The issue of Syrian detainees in Lebanese prisons remains a sensitive point of tension between Beirut and Damascus, threatening to re-aggravate bilateral relations if the stalemate continues, especially after news of the Syrian government's intention to take escalatory measures, including closing border crossings, before Damascus rushed to deny it.
Despite this denial, the issue remains seriously on the Lebanese table, given its judicial and political sensitivity, and its connection to the rights of more than two thousand Syrian detainees, many of whom have not been tried for years, according to the "Al-Modon" website.
Comment:
It is not only the detainees in Roumieh prison who constitute an obstacle to the transitional administration today, but also the file of prisoners of opinion in Idlib prisons is a major obstacle that has not been addressed until now, especially with the rising voices of the families demanding the release of their sons, after seeing them distribute certificates of amnesty and forgiveness to those who killed, displaced and abused them over the years of the revolution!
Here, we give an example that may be a door to looking at the matter as it should be. When Bashar al-Assad assumed power in Syria by inheritance, he sat like a fool on a booby-trapped chair without knowing it. No sooner had hours passed since he sat down, than some countries began demanding files from him and calling on him to settle them, the most prominent of which was the file of the Muslim Brotherhood, who were abused by Hafez Assad and his criminal brother Rifaat in Tadmor prison.
This file constituted a major burden on the butcher Bashar for decades, and was among the reasons that contributed to the ignition of the revolution and its launch from its cradle, Daraa. The truth is that the options of the fleeing Assad were not many, and this file was like a rope that tightens around his neck from time to time.
Today, no one who has insight can deny that the revolution received support from sympathetic Lebanese and supportive Syrians, some of whom are now in Roumieh prison. So, be wary of betraying them or neglecting their cause.
As for the file of prisoners of opinion in Idlib, it alone has a long story, especially when considering the reasons for their detention and arrest, which - if we look into them - we find to be demands of right. They demanded the opening of the fronts, and if it were not for those demands, the fronts would not have been opened in the first place. The truth is that what we are in of good today is due, after the grace of God Almighty, to those demands, whether one likes it or not.
Why are these people being arrested? And for whose benefit are they kept in prisons?
Is it logical to treat those who killed, displaced, and abused well, and to meet the demands of the people of right with arrest and disappearance?!
Their demands expressed the voice of the revolutionary incubator. People, in their comings and goings, and in their councils, were saying that the leaders of the revolution - military and political - had become tools in the hands of countries, and slaves to their dollars.
As for the detainees today, their demands revolved around liberating the military decision of the revolution, and that the fronts should not be opened or closed by external orders. Is the owner of this position rewarded with imprisonment?!
Stranger than that, their homes were raided at critical hours and in terrifying ways, while their families see the "patting" that is enjoyed by those who displaced, abused, and killed, and even the polite manners during the bringing of the wanted thugs!
Isn't what we have mentioned a looming danger that may lead to an explosion that leaves nothing untouched?
The files of the detainees of Roumieh and Idlib are two thorns in the side of the revolution that must be uprooted, not ignored.
If the thorn is left, it causes inflammation, then unbearable pain.
So, take the initiative to solve it, and do not procrastinate as others did and fell into the trap.
These two files are among the most dangerous files that must be addressed, and the mistake that occurred must be corrected. Those who are in prisons are people of precedence and truthfulness. The man of truth is the one who sees the danger before it occurs and warns you about it. As for the one who laughs in your face while you fall, he is waiting for your fall to be complete to stab you in the back.
