Sincerity in Repentance Includes Three Things
The first: Generalizing all sins and encompassing them, so that no sin is left unaddressed.
The second: Uniting determination and truthfulness entirely upon them, so that there remains no hesitation, blame, or waiting, but rather gathering all will and determination upon it, hastening towards it.
The third: Purifying it from impurities and flaws that detract from its sincerity and its occurrence purely out of fear of God, reverence for Him, and desire for what He has and dread of what He has, not like one who repents to preserve his status, sanctity, position, and leadership, or to preserve his condition, or to preserve his strength and wealth, or to seek praise from people, or to escape their blame, or lest the foolish dominate him, or to satisfy his desires in the world, or due to his bankruptcy and inability, and so on from the flaws that detract from its correctness and purity for God Almighty.
