When We Preferred the Eight Over the Three
One of the scholars was asked: What has brought the state of the Muslims to this degree of humiliation, degradation, and the encroachment of enemies?!
The Sheikh replied: (When we preferred the eight over the three)!
He was asked: What are the eight and what are the three?
He said: I read it in His saying, may He be exalted: {Say, "If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your relatives, wealth which you have obtained, commerce wherein you fear decline, and dwellings with which you are content are more beloved to you than Allah and His Messenger and jihad in His cause, then wait until Allah executes His command. And Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people."}
O Allah, do not put in our hearts anything more beloved to us than love for You, love for Your Messenger, and striving in Your cause, O Lord of the worlds, and make us among those who offer the eight cheaply as a sacrifice for the three.
