Al-Fashir: The Battle That Could Change Sudan's Map
News:
In the coming days, it will become clear whether Al-Fashir will turn into a new headquarters for a de facto authority in the west, or whether it will remain an open arena for a long conflict that drains everyone. But what is certain is that October 26, 2025, will be recorded as a pivotal day in the Sudanese war. (Arabs48, 10/31/2025)
Comment:
After more than a year of sieges and skirmishes, the Rapid Support Forces launched a large-scale attack on the city of Al-Fashir, targeting the headquarters of the 6th Infantry Division of the Sudanese army, which throughout the war has remained a symbol of the army's steadfastness in the Darfur region and a major stronghold of its military leaders. Throughout the year, things changed according to the arrangements of the parties to the conflict and according to the instructions issued to them from Washington.
Initially, the army cleared the central region (Khartoum, Omdurman, and Bahri) of the Rapid Support Forces, which quickly evacuated the central region, and it appeared that it must have evacuated the region by agreement because the army opened safe, undeclared corridors for it towards Darfur. Then, it actually imposed a siege on the city of Al-Fashir, the largest and most famous city in the five Darfur states, and its occupation by the Rapid Support Forces meant its almost complete control over the five regions, four of whose capitals were controlled by the army.
Indeed, the army refrained from supporting the 6th Infantry Division in Al-Fashir, despite its ability to do so, and the Rapid Support Forces announced the formation of a separatist government that began carrying out its work from the city of Nyala. The conflict in Sudan between America's two agents; Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Hamdan Daglo (Hemedti) is heading towards division and fragmentation of the country, i.e., seeking to separate Darfur from it, and this cannot happen except with direct instructions from America.
Indeed, about two months ago, and in compliance with what is rumored about President Trump's desire to end wars and portray himself as a man of peace, America began talking about a ceasefire in Sudan, and on 2025/9/2, it brought together the Quartet (Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the Emirates), and issued a statement signed by the Quartet requesting a three-month truce followed by peace negotiations between the two parties.
Then America brought together the two parties to the conflict in Washington, despite the denial of al-Burhan's representatives during his foreign minister's visit to Washington, and an agreement was reached on a ceasefire. Because the Rapid Support Forces had not yet taken control of the city of Al-Fashir, the capital of Darfur, al-Burhan's leadership issued orders to the 6th Division to evacuate the sites in the city and withdraw so that those forces could take the city, and then move the center of its separatist government to it according to Washington's instructions, and this was done only two days after the Washington meeting!
America did not show any serious opposition to the occupation of Al-Fashir, and continued to demand a three-month truce and negotiations between the two parties, meaning that it agrees to the occupation of Al-Fashir.
Now, what prevents the Rapid Support Forces from becoming independent with Darfur from Sudan after al-Burhan's leadership helped in preparing the arena for that during the war? Does he realize that the war that America's two agents ignited between themselves since the beginning of 2023, which claimed the lives of tens of thousands and millions of displaced people, had no purpose other than to expel the Europeans' agents from Sudan as an American sphere of influence, then fragment Sudan and split Darfur from it after splitting its south from it previously? Is there anyone who will take heed?!
