America informs the United Nations that it will boycott the periodic review of its human rights record!!
The News:
America informed the United Nations in a letter on Thursday that it would not participate in the upcoming periodic review of its human rights record. In a letter addressed by the US mission in Geneva to the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, it stated, "I am writing to inform you that the United States of America will not participate in the comprehensive periodic review… scheduled to take place in Geneva on November 7."
The comprehensive periodic review is a process that all 193 member states of the United Nations must undergo every four to five years to assess their human rights record.
Comment:
America, which established international organizations and succeeded in making the entire world follow it and see it as a haven for resolving disputes and restoring rights, is itself confirming, year after year, the role assigned to those organizations and that they are far from being able to do justice to the oppressed or deter the oppressor.
This is not the first time that America has announced its rejection of the interference of international organizations in its affairs and justifies it as it wishes. It previously withdrew from the Human Rights Council 3 years ago in Trump's first term and justified the matter by the Council's bias against the Jewish entity.
Therefore, many believe that Washington, in reality, through its arm, the United Nations, only targets the human rights record in countries hostile to it, while it turns a blind eye to human rights violations in countries allied with it, or those with which it has strategic interests, and of course it also turns a blind eye to violations that occur on its own soil, and therefore it refuses the periodic review.
He who has a house of glass should not throw stones at other people's houses, but America's malice and its constant pursuit of maintaining its influence in the world is what made it adorn the marketing of the idea of human rights, international law, and global agreements in order to have interference in the affairs of other countries, while it itself rejects that and disregards all international treaties and agreements that conflict with its interests.
The first country in the world stands helpless in the face of the spread of racism on its land, and it has not been able to adequately address the racial disparities in the violations committed by the police, and in the rates of prisoners, in addition to the structural racism in its society, and there is no need to talk about the violence directed against women there, especially Indian women, and about the spread of weapons and killing and the increasing repression in demonstrations.
Then talk about the extent of America's collusion in the genocide committed by the Jews in Gaza with its funding and weapons.
All of this makes America far from being an example to be followed, and it refutes the pillars of the global campaign that it led and worked on all the past years to polish its image and extend its influence over the world.
Is it still acceptable for the sons of the Islamic nation to appeal to the United Nations and international law to stop what is happening in Gaza, Sudan, India, or elsewhere?! Certainly, the matter has become unacceptable, for he who lacks something cannot give it.
