Companies Supporting Settlements in the Egyptian Market
Direct Support for the Belligerent Enemy and Violation of Islamic Rulings
News:
Egypt Window stated on its website on Saturday, October 4, 2025, that the High Commissioner for Human Rights published in late September 2025 an update to the database of companies involved in economic activities within illegal settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which were established on lands seized from the people of Palestine. The update included 158 companies, including six major companies with a clear commercial presence in the Egyptian market, namely: Airbnb, Booking.com, Expedia, TripAdvisor, Motorola Solutions, JCB.
Comment:
These companies, which Egypt Window spoke about, are accused of providing services that facilitate economic activity in the settlements, whether by displaying and renting properties inside the settlements to settlers and tourists, or by supplying equipment and technological devices used to monitor Palestinians and build settlements. The presence of these companies in the Egyptian market, and the continued normal dealings with them, reveals the extent to which normalization has reached in state policy, and raises major questions about the extent of its commitment to the simplest standards of boycott and political and economic hostility towards an occupying belligerent entity.
According to the United Nations database, major tourist booking companies such as Airbnb, Booking, Expedia, and TripAdvisor, provide marketing and rental services for properties inside the settlements, which contributes to enhancing their economic presence, and gives them an appearance of legitimacy by including them among the usual tourist destinations. This in itself is a political and moral crime, because it promotes areas built on seized lands, and helps bring money to the settlers and finance their stay.
As for Motorola Solutions, it is involved in supplying settlements and outposts with advanced monitoring systems used to monitor Palestinians and maintain security control over the occupied territories. While JCB is a heavy equipment company whose products are used in construction and demolition work inside the occupied Palestinian territories, including the expansion of settlements and the demolition of Palestinian homes.
The presence of these companies in the Egyptian market, whether through regional offices or distributors or through the widespread use of their platforms, practically means that the Egyptian economy is open to entities that actually participate in supporting the occupation of the blessed land of Palestine, and normalizing the reality of the settlements.
The matter does not stop at the limits of private companies, but extends to dangerous official policies, most notably the deal to export Egyptian gas to the Jewish entity, which was signed several years ago and was developed and expanded under the current regime.
This gas that is exported is in part plundered gas, seized by the occupation from the offshore Gaza fields and what was given up after the border demarcation agreement, and then passed through regional networks and tripartite deals involving Egypt, the occupation, and European parties. This means that Egypt is practically liquefying the nation's looted gas, and exporting it through its facilities, while the people of Gaza are deprived of their most basic rights to exploit their natural resources, and are prevented from accessing electricity, water, and fuel!
Moreover, the deal provides the Jewish entity with an important economic and strategic resource, as it enables it to export stolen gas through Egyptian liquefaction plants to Europe, which revitalizes its economy and provides it with funding resources for its military machine that is decimating our people in Gaza.
All of this is happening at a time when the Jewish entity is waging a continuous criminal war on the people of Palestine, and has been besieging Gaza for nearly two decades, preventing food, medicine, and fuel from reaching it, while the Egyptian state contributes to supplying it with energy, goods, and foodstuffs through crossings and trade agreements, under the pretext of "obligations" and "economic cooperation".
These actions do not stop at the level of "political mistakes" or "differences in assessment", but are a grave legal violation.
First: The Jewish entity is an occupying usurper of the land of Muslims, killing Muslims, and waging war on our people in Palestine, and therefore it is indeed a belligerent enemy, and it is not permissible to deal with it in any form of economic, political, or security cooperation that strengthens its ability or legitimizes its occupation.
Second: Every sale or provision of benefit or support to the belligerent enemy is forbidden, but rather falls under the category of supporting the oppressor and relying on him. Ibn Qudamah said in Al-Mughni: "It is not permissible to sell weapons or anything that helps in fighting to the people of war in times of war, because it is aiding them in fighting Muslims."
Third: Transferring food, energy, or services that strengthen the enemy or facilitate its continued occupation falls under the ruling of the forbidden, but may be a form of allegiance to the warring infidels, which God warned against in His saying: ﴿O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you - then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people.﴾.
The duty upon the state, if it adheres to the rulings of Islam, is to prevent the entry of companies supporting settlements into the Egyptian market, and to sever all economic, political, and security relations with the Jewish entity, as it is a belligerent entity usurping the land of Muslims, and it is not permissible to deal with it or normalize it in any way.
It must also cancel the gas deal immediately, because it is a void deal from its origin: it is based on the usurpation of the nation's wealth, and secures a source of energy and income for a belligerent enemy, and it is one of the greatest forms of sin and aggression. And it is the duty of the nation to hold the rulers accountable for these policies, and not to remain silent about supporting the belligerent enemy while our people in Gaza are being slaughtered and Palestine is being seized before everyone's eyes.
The duty does not stop at economic boycotts or demands to cancel deals, but the principle is that the nation fulfills its full duty towards the land of the Isra and Mi'raj, by mobilizing armies to liberate Palestine and uproot the Jewish entity from its roots, as God Almighty commanded, and as the Muslims did throughout history when Islam had a state that ruled by it and led the nation.
Every economic, political, or security support for the enemy is a vile dependence and actual participation for him in his war on Muslims, and therefore it is the duty of the nation to work to establish the rule of Islam that cuts off the roots of this dependence, and unifies its energies in confronting its enemies, not in serving them.
The presence of companies supporting settlements within the Egyptian market, gas deals with the Jewish entity, and the supply of food and energy to it, all of these are practices that represent direct support for the belligerent enemy, and a clear violation of the provisions of Sharia. It reveals a reality of political and economic dependence that must be radically changed.
It is the duty of the nation to reject this reality categorically, and to work to end all forms of support and cooperation with this usurping entity, not only by individual boycotts, but by serious accountability and by changing the regime that sponsors and secures it, and establishing the rule of Islam that liberates the nation from dependence, and supports our brothers in Palestine with actual support.
﴿O you who have believed, respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life. And know that Allah intervenes between a man and his heart and that to Him you will be gathered.﴾
