The Inevitability of the Clash of Civilisation (Hatmiyyat sira'a Ul-hadharat)

Hizb ut Tahrir

The book deals with the concept of civilization and dialogue between civilizations, the idea of equality and acceptance of the other, in addition to the conflict between civilizations and aspects of this intellectual, economic, political and military conflict. It also responds to the allegations about denying the civilizational conflict in Islam and offensive jihad.

مقدمة / Introduction

Civilization is the sum of concepts about life. This civilization is either religious and divine or man-made. The divine religious civilization emanates from a creed, such as Islamic civilization, which emanates from the Islamic creed. As for the man-made civilization, it either emanates from a creed, such as Western capitalist civilization, which is a set of concepts about life emanating from the creed of separating religion from life. Or it is not derived from a creed, such as the civilization of Shinto, Greece, Babylon, or Assyria. This civilization is a set of concepts about life agreed upon by a people or peoples, so it is a popular or man-made civilization. However, a people or peoples may have a religion and a creed, but this religion does not contain concepts about life, such as Christianity and Buddhism. So people agree on concepts about the world that are specific to them. These concepts constitute their civilization and have nothing to do with their religion because they do not emanate from it, so their civilization is not religious even though they have a religion. Accordingly, several peoples can share one civilization despite the difference in their religions, such as the Japanese, Hindus, Sikhs, and French. Their religions are different, but their civilization is one: capitalism.

خاتمة / Conclusion

In summary, the clash of civilizations is inevitable. It was in the past, it exists today, and it will remain until the conflict ends shortly before the Hour, when it will only befall the worst of creation. So do not be deceived, O Muslims, by the advocates of dialogue who bury their heads in the sand and turn a blind eye to humiliation and defeat. Prepare for the conflict with its equipment, for the civilization of Western capitalism has defeated you militarily, politically, and economically, but it will not defeat you intellectually. Your creed is precious to those who seek it, and it is still alive in souls, but some concepts of your civilization branching from your creed have been tainted by some impurities and have been somewhat tarnished. Work to purify them and remove the dust from them by returning to the Book and the Sunnah, and beware of accepting a statement without evidence, or accepting a statement with evidence from other than a mujtahid, or from someone who informs about him, for this is the time of ignorant leaders who issue fatwas without knowledge, so beware of them. Seek out knowledgeable, dedicated, and sincere scholars, and take your religion from them, for they are the lamps of darkness, and they are few today. Know that victory and triumph in the end belong to Islam and the Muslims. This is what Allah and His Messenger have promised us in definitive reports, so trust in the beauty of Allah's promise, and work to install your caliph and establish your community on a man from among you, to prepare the equipment, gather the nation, intimidate the enemy, preserve the flock, be just to the subjects, divide equally, and make Allah manifest this religion over all religions, even if the polytheists dislike it. O Allah, guide the nation of Muhammad to what pleases You and makes it worthy of Your victory. O Most Merciful of the merciful, we seek Your help and seek refuge in You. We are weak at Your door, imploring at Your threshold, in dire need of Your help, so grant victory to Your religion, fulfill Your promise, and send down Your victory, and all praise is due to You in every circumstance.
