The Debate About Graduation Truck Trips Reveals Deep-Rooted Islamophobia Among Danish Media and Politicians
(Translated)
Last week witnessed widespread media and political uproar over posts on social media in which Muslims congratulated this year's graduates, while presenting the Islamic view on graduation truck trips marred by alcohol and immoral behavior.
These Islamic reminders, generally characterized by rationality and discussion, sparked a commotion in local media and among politicians from various political spectrums in Christiansborg. Motivated by their deep-seated hatred of Islam, they launched personal attacks on specific Muslims, including a member of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Denmark. Although it is no more than an expression of Islamic values and encouraging Muslims to adhere to them with pride, some dehumanized journalists and politicians have tried to silence Muslims by dragging their professional lives into the issue.
Experts who appointed themselves as employees of the government, along with professional politicians who have long revealed their lack of values and integrity, conspired to contribute to demonizing Muslims who refuse to abandon their Islamic values or remain silent about them. The usual stereotypes about negative societal control, fear and exclusion are generously promoted. The Minister for Integration, Kaare Dybvad Bek from the Social Democratic Party, joined an absolutely unintelligent interview with BT channel, on July 2, 2025 and described the drinking culture, which is clearly a problem among Danish youth, as "part of our culture, and I think one should accept it instead of trying to turn it into a problem." For the minister, refusing this is "scary" and makes it "difficult to imagine how one can be part of Danish society."
Since then, the Minister of Culture - and former cocaine driver - Jakob Engel-Schmidt (from the Moderates) has offered his opinion, appointing himself as a moral judge of what Muslims must believe in order to be accepted in Denmark.
One cannot help but wonder: Where was this enormous political outrage during the 637 days of the genocide that Denmark supported in Palestine? And on what moral basis do the media and politicians who support genocide imagine they stand when they try to preach "values" to Muslims? As usual, when it comes to Islamic expressions, the praised freedom of expression is suddenly difficult to find.
To the Muslim youth, we say: Heartfelt congratulations to you all, you who, despite the pressure of those in power and haters, adhere to your Islamic values, refusing intimidation. With this attitude, you are a role model for the youth around you, and bright examples of young people who have true values and personal integrity; This is much more important than any academic level. Those who seek to crush your Islamic identity lack even the most basic rules of decency and humanity. Do not despair when they try to demonize you. Engage actively in society, and carry your Islam with you in word and deed, as this is the most effective cure against hatred and lies. Do not be sad when they try to insult or threaten you. They are undermining their so-called "freedoms" and revealing how weak their foundations are. It is not them, but God Almighty, who grants success and is always with you. You have every right to be proud, for you are the pride of the entire Islamic nation.
