My dear listeners, listeners of the Media Office Radio of Hizb ut-Tahrir:

Peace be upon you and God's mercy and blessings, and after: In this episode, we continue our reflections on the book: "From the Components of the Islamic Psyche." In order to build the Islamic personality, with attention to the Islamic mentality and the Islamic psyche, we say, with God's help and guidance:

Fear of God in secret and in public is obligatory, and the evidence for that is the Quran and the Sunnah. As for the Book, it is His saying: {And fear Me alone}. (Al-Baqarah 40). And His saying: {And fear Me}. (Al-Baqarah 41). And His saying: {It is only Satan who frightens [you] of his supporters. So fear them not, but fear Me, if you are [indeed] believers}. (Al-Imran 175). And His saying: {And Allah warns you of Himself, and to Allah is the destination}. (Al-Imran 28). And His saying: {So do not fear the people but fear Me}. (Al-Ma'idah 3). And His saying: {O mankind, fear your Lord}. (An-Nisa 1). And His saying: {The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful}. (Al-Anfal 2). And His saying: {And such is the seizure of your Lord when He seizes the cities while they are committing wrong. Indeed, His seizure is painful and severe. Indeed in that is a sign for those who fear the punishment of the Hereafter. That is a Day for which people will be collected, and that is a Day [of] attendance. And We do not delay it except for a specified term. The Day it comes, no person will speak except by His permission. Then among them will be the wretched and the prosperous. As for those who were wretched, they will be in the Fire, for them therein is [violent] exhaling and inhaling}. (Hud 106). And His saying: {And those who join that which Allah has ordered to be joined and fear their Lord and fear the খারাপ account}. (Ar-Ra'd 21). And His saying: {That is for he who fears My position and fears My threat}. (Ibrahim 14). And His saying: {O mankind, fear your Lord. Indeed, the convulsion of the [final] Hour is a terrible thing. On the Day you see it every nursing mother will be distracted from that [child] she was nursing, and every pregnant woman will abort her pregnancy, and you will see the people [appearing] intoxicated, but they are not intoxicated; but the punishment of Allah is severe}. (Al-Hajj 2). And His saying: {But for he who fears the standing before his Lord are two gardens}. (Ar-Rahman 46). And His saying: {What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur}. (Nuh 13) Meaning, why do you not fear the greatness of God. And His saying: {The Day a man will flee from his brother. And his mother and his father. And his wife and his children. For every person, that Day, will be concern enough}. (Abas 37).

As for the Sunnahs and traditions, some of them indicate the obligation of fear in their explicit meaning, and some indicate it in their implied meaning:

Al-Bukhari narrated from Abu Hurairah, may God be pleased with him, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "Seven will be shaded by God Almighty in His shade on the Day when there is no shade but His shade: a just imam, a young man who grew up in the worship of God Almighty, a man whose heart is attached to the mosques, two men who love each other for God's sake, meet on it, and part on it, a man whom a woman of high status and beauty invites, and he says: I fear God, and a man who gives charity and conceals it until his left hand does not know what his right hand spends, and a man who remembers God in private and his eyes overflow."

On the authority of Anas, may God be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, delivered a sermon, the likes of which I have never heard, and said: "If you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much." So the companions of the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, covered their faces, making a suppressed moaning sound. (Agreed upon).

On the authority of Adi bin Hatim, may God be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is not one of you but that God will speak to him, without a translator between God and him, and he will look to his right and not see but what he has put forth, and he will look to his left and not see but what he has put forth, and he will look in front of him and not see but the Fire facing him, so fear the Fire, even with half a date." (Agreed upon).

On the authority of Aisha, may God be pleased with her, who said: I heard the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "People will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection barefoot, naked, and uncircumcised. I said, O Messenger of God, men and women all together looking at each other? He said, O Aisha, the matter is more severe than that they should care about that" (Agreed upon).

On the authority of Al-Nu'man bin Basheer, may God be pleased with them, who said: "I heard the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "The person who will have the least punishment among the inhabitants of the Fire on the Day of Resurrection will be a man under whose soles two embers will be placed, and his brain will boil because of them." (Agreed upon).

On the authority of Abdullah bin Omar, may God be pleased with them, that the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds, until one of them will be submerged in his sweat up to halfway up his ears."

On the authority of Abu Hurairah, may God be pleased with him, that the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "People will sweat on the Day of Resurrection until their sweat goes into the earth seventy cubits, and it will bridle them until it reaches their ears." (Agreed upon).

On the authority of Abu Hurairah, may God be pleased with him, that the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "God says: If My servant intends to do evil, do not write it against him until he does it, and if he does it, write it against him as it is, and if he leaves it for My sake, write it for him as a good deed, and if he intends to do good and does not do it, write it for him as a good deed, and if he does it, write it for him as ten times its like up to seven hundred times." (Agreed upon). So why is our fear of God in secret and in public not like the fear of the Companions, may God be pleased with them, which motivated them to obey His commands and avoid His prohibitions, so that we may be happy as they were happy in this world and the Hereafter?

My dear listeners: Listeners of the Media Office Radio of Hizb ut-Tahrir:
