Press Release

Breaking up markets like Souk al-Dukhinat is fighting people in their livelihoods and earnings

and a result of the absence of the Islamic state, the Caliphate

In a brutal and violent act, the local authorities of Jabal Awliya in Khartoum State, through heavily armed soldiers on Thursday morning, 6/12/2025, removed the Souk al-Dukhinat located on the Jabal Awliya road with bulldozers, and broke up the display tables, and even those who fled the market with their goods were not spared from that!

Souk al-Dukhinat is one of the old markets, and it expanded after the closure of all local markets and most of the Khartoum markets due to the war, so it became a haven for people from the region, who are civilians and non-military personnel, to shop and obtain food, vegetables, and meals. It is one of the markets where stolen goods are not sold, so the market expanded, and prices decreased due to the abundance of supply in it, and food became accessible, and excellent job opportunities were provided for the people of the region after this accursed war, which disrupted businesses and stopped jobs. Because of this demolition, prices have risen dramatically, as a result of the disappearance of the supply, which increased people's misery.

What the locality and its forces did, of violence, harshness, and brutality in dealing, was denounced by the people of the region, but most of them were surprised, and asked; isn't it time for the government to abandon its old methods as a collection state that antagonizes the people who it must care for according to Sharia? Then where were these forces when the Rapid Support Forces violated honors and plundered money?! So, are these forces to protect people or to oppress and humiliate them?! If the market is narrowing the road, it can be organized or moved to wider areas, which are available in the region.

Allah Almighty has permitted buying and selling, He said: ﴿Allah has permitted selling and forbidden usury﴾, but usury has been permitted in our markets and selling has been forbidden with pretexts and laws for which Allah has sent down no authority, and work is obligatory on the able man to spend on his family, on the authority of Abdullah bin Amr who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It is enough sin for a man to neglect those whom he sustains", and the one who is unable to work in fact or in law, his affair is up to the treasury of the Muslims, that is, to the government, so how can it fight people in their livelihoods?!

It is also not permissible to destroy people’s property in the market under any pretext, such as the spread of cholera, organizing the market, or otherwise, but the basis in the state is to help people and fulfill the duty of caring for them, and providing security and safety for them, not fighting them and cutting off their livelihoods! Also, the one who works in the market must abide by the rules of Sharia, in buying, selling, trade, and other permissible works; so he does not sell stolen goods or prohibited things, or spoiled food, and he commits to preserving the environment, and public health, and does not close the road, and does not deal with gross exploitation, or with deception, fraud, usury, and other prohibited sales.

The government's duty is to take care of people's affairs, and monitor the markets to organize them, not to prevent people, but to facilitate their affairs in them by buying, selling, and working, and that is according to the command of the Prophet ﷺ: "The Imam who is over the people is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock." Agreed upon.

What is happening today in the markets is a result of the absence of the Islamic state; the state of care that establishes the rulings of God, and applies His Sharia, and the ruler in it is a shepherd for the people, and not a collector of their money, so there must be serious work to establish the Rightly Guided Caliphate according to the method of Prophethood, and the pledge of allegiance to a Rightly Guided Caliph; who establishes the religion, and applies the Sharia, and this miserable, bitter reality will change. On the authority of al-Arbad bin Sariya, who said: The Prophet ﷺ said: "Indeed, whoever among you lives after me will see much disagreement, so adhere to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided Caliphs, adhere to it and bite onto it with your molars."
