Press Release from Hizb ut-Tahrir Regarding the Destruction of Markets Such as the Al-Dukhainat Market, Fighting People in Their Livelihoods and as a Result of the Absence of the Islamic State, the Caliphate
Press Release
The destruction of markets such as the Al-Dukhainat market is fighting people in their livelihoods
And as a result of the absence of the Islamic State, the Caliphate
In a brutal and violent act, the local authorities of Jabal Awliya in Khartoum State, through heavily armed soldiers, removed the Al-Dukhainat market located on the Jabal Awliya road with bulldozers on Thursday morning, 12/6/2025, and broke the display tables, and even those who fled the market with their goods were not spared!
The Al-Dukhainat market is one of the oldest markets, and it has expanded after the closure of all local markets and most of Khartoum markets due to the war, so it became a haven for people where the people of the region, who are civilians and not military personnel, shop for food, vegetables, and food. It is one of the markets where stolen goods are not sold, so the market expanded, and prices decreased due to the abundance of supply in it, and food became accessible, and even excellent job opportunities were provided for the people of the region after this cursed war, which disrupted businesses and stopped jobs. Because of this destruction, prices have risen sharply, as a result of the disappearance of the supply, which has increased people's misery.
What the local authorities and their forces did, of violence, cruelty, and brutality in dealing, was condemned by the people of the region, and most of them were surprised and wondered; Isn't it time for the government to abandon its old methods as a collection state that antagonizes people who it should be taking care of according to Sharia? Then where were these forces when the Rapid Support Forces violated honors and looted money?! Are these forces to protect people or to oppress and humiliate them?! If the market narrows the road, it can be organized or moved to wider areas, which are available in the area.
Allah Almighty has permitted buying and selling, as He said: ﴿Allah has permitted trade and forbidden interest﴾, but interest has been legalized in our markets and selling has been forbidden with pretexts and laws for which Allah has sent down no authority. Work is obligatory for the capable man to provide for his family. Abdullah bin Amr said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It is enough sin for a man to neglect those whom he sustains," and the one who is actually or legally unable to work is ordered to the treasury of the Muslims, that is, to the government, so how can it fight people in their livelihoods?!
It is also not permissible to destroy people's property in the market under any pretext, such as the spread of cholera, or organizing the market, or other reasons, but the principle in the state is to help people and fulfill the duty of taking care of them, and providing security and safety for them, not fighting them and cutting off their livelihoods! Also, the one who works in the market must abide by the rules of Sharia, in selling and trade, and other permissible works; He does not sell stolen goods or prohibited items, nor rotten food, and adheres to preserving the environment and public health, and does not block the road, or deal with excessive exploitation, or with deception, fraud and usury, and other prohibited sales.
The government's duty is to take care of people's affairs and monitor the markets to organize them, not to prevent people, but to facilitate their affairs in them by buying, selling, and working, and that is according to the command of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "The Imam who is in charge of the people is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock," agreed upon.
What is happening today in the markets is the result of the absence of the Islamic State; the state of care that establishes the laws of God and applies His Sharia, and the ruler in it is a shepherd for the people, not a collector of their money, so it is necessary to work hard to establish the Rightly Guided Caliphate according to the method of Prophethood, and pledge allegiance to a Rightly Guided Caliph; who establishes the religion and applies the Sharia, so this miserable and bitter reality will change. Al-Irbad bin Sariyah said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "For whoever among you lives after me will see much disagreement, so adhere to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, adhere to it and bite on it with your molars."
