Aradar: Professor/Ghada Abdel-Jabbar (Um Awab) writes... The collapse of the economy in Sudan is the product of a policy dictated by the World Bank
The World Bank said that Sudan's economy shrank by an additional 13.5% in 2024, after shrinking by about a third in the previous year, while extreme poverty is expected to include 71% of the population as the conflict continues. (Sudan Tribune, June 10, 2025)
This World Bank, which calls on countries to follow its capitalist policies that enslave countries, plunder their wealth and exhaust them with poverty, despite their wealth of resources and wealth, orders to follow the doom, then comes as a preacher and guide, like Satan when he said to man, disbelieve, and when he disbelieved, he said, I am innocent of you!
The war is not the only reason for the collapse of the economy, because it is already collapsing due to following the policies of the World Bank, and the capitalist prescriptions of the International Monetary Fund, which are called economic reform, but in reality, it is an economic collapse. An organized starvation of the people of Sudan began with the first prescription, where the largest agricultural project with unified management in the world, the Gezira Project, was transformed into a relic of the past, then the prescriptions followed until Sudan was stripped of the lowest standards of decent living in exchange for satisfying the colonial countries, and the international financial institutions, on the part of successive governments that cannot independently make their decisions despite Sudan's wealth of apparent and hidden resources.
The inflation that has reached 170% and the collapse of the Sudanese pound are not the result of a real economic weakness, but rather of political decisions dictated by the International Monetary Fund, including the liberalization of the exchange rate, the lifting of subsidies on fuel, the increase in taxes and fees, and the privatization of what remains of the public sector, if anything remains to be privatized. All of this falls into the category of reducing the budget deficit at the expense of the poor, who have no one to take care of their affairs and stand by them after the government has abandoned them, so they have been afflicted with poverty and starvation in exchange for the dream of increasing revenues to service debts, and not to serve the human being who has become a victim to satisfy the capitalist West.
In contrast, Islam established an economic system that achieved sufficiency for everyone who lived under the shadow of its state, and the basis of the system is to take care of people's affairs individually, so Islam strictly prohibits usury, which is the basis of the global banking system that has made quasi-states today drowning in debt, and subject to the hegemony of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, implementing its doom and economic traps, and Islam made oil, gas and minerals public property, not the property of the state, or private companies. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "People are partners in three things: water, pastures, and fire." Therefore, selling fuel and gas and profiting from them, in addition to liberalizing their prices and privatizing resources, is an attack on the nation's property and a crime against it, and not an economic reform as they claim. As for the inflation resulting from raising the prices of goods, or from printing money without cover and the currency being paper with no value, it is the worst of the worst, and it also contradicts the provisions of Islam and is a theft of people's efforts and savings, while Islam made money gold and silver because of their intrinsic value.
This is a drop in the ocean of the economic system in Islam, which will not change the conditions of the people except by applying it completely and integrated with the other systems of Islam in the second Khilafah Rashidah (rightly guided Caliphate) according to the method of Prophethood, whose time is approaching.
