Al-Radar: Sudan Between Disease Outbreaks and the Inability of the Government of Hope!
By Professor/ Ghada Abdel-Jabbar (Um Awab)
Sudanese Minister of Health, Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, said that tens of thousands of Sudanese have been infected with dengue fever and other diseases, while seasonal rains are burdening the infrastructure and hospitals damaged by the conflict. The Ministry of Health stated that it recorded more than 2,000 cases of dengue fever nationwide during the past week, and the Minister of Health said that insecticide spraying systems were damaged, and that the continuation of the war for more than two years had a direct impact on the environment and health, the accumulation of garbage and waste, and the destruction of water sources, which created a new reality in which mosquitoes spread abundantly, and that the reduction of international aid hindered the ability to treat these diseases, explaining that the cost of confronting a number of epidemics that broke out at the same time amounts to about 39 million dollars. (Reuters, September 24, 2025).
The deteriorating health conditions, the spread of deadly diseases, the lack of money, the lack of medicines, hospitals and health services, and the exorbitant prices that have left thin bodies exhausted by hunger and malnutrition, where no home in Khartoum is free of infection, where fever has become a heavy guest that imposes on everyone the test of survival, in a collapsed health reality, and the situation worsens in the fall season with its dangers that the government finds difficult to avoid while it is in a state of stability, so how about it in a state of war where no effort is made in the field of environmental sanitation, and combating disease vectors every year? But this year is not like any other year because of the syndrome of war, poverty and disease that has come together on the people, and they have no one but God to turn to.
As for the Ministry of Health in the Government of Hope, in these tragic circumstances, it is standing idly by, wrapped in complete helplessness; the Minister of Health declares to the satellite channels complete helplessness, as he has nothing but to count and count the sick and the dead, beg from abroad, and point to the shortcomings of external support.
The complete failure to sanitize the environment and eliminate disease vectors; from mosquitoes and flies, has resulted in these huge numbers of patients, all of which indicates that the state is not fulfilling the minimum degree of responsibility towards the people to create a practical and serious environment.
The mosquito that transmits the disease breeds in stagnant water in the streets, until it dries up on its own, including inside homes; pools of stagnant water throughout the country! With the interruption of drinking water, people resorted to storing water in homes, after the fighting in the capital led to the destruction of electricity and water networks and all services, waste is spreading, mosquitoes are increasing in number and type, medicines and painkillers are non-existent, but are sold on the black market, and their official price does not exceed three thousand! But it is sold for 15 thousand, and people do not have the money.
This scene indicates the extent of negligence and lack of responsibility on the part of the state, which has accustomed us to only think of solutions that do not require effort, so people are just numbers for counting and statistics, and it does not bother itself with any move to address the situation, even external support from medicines, has been affected by corruption, and it has become normal to find medicine written on it "dispensed free of charge" but it is sold at the highest prices.
The pace of disease and death is increasing, and the Ministry of Health has abandoned its work and has nothing but warning and foretelling, so it warns and foretells people of the spread of epidemics, but treating them and controlling them is something that the state imagines it has nothing to do with!
Everything we suffer from has one cause, which is the state's failure to fulfill its duty as a welfare state, and this is a result of adopting the greedy, utilitarian capitalist system, which knows no human value, no moral value, and knows no mercy or care. This greedy capitalist system, which we are also governed by, views care as a material cost that does not concern it, so treatment and medicines have become for those who can afford their costs, not for those who need them! And if the state guarantees it, it sells and buys in the health of the people of the country, through health insurance companies, which are not for everyone, but for those who have the monthly subscription, and here uncountable numbers fall, their illness, death or life does not matter to the state.
As for the profitable investment hospitals, which trade in human health and life, in exchange for increasing their profits, and controlling them in the market, they have competed with public hospitals, which have become useless.
The matter is clear and does not need many evidences, for we have not been touched by harm except that capitalism stands behind it, and in front of it, and if we want to recover from this cancerous capitalist system, we must pay the cost by working hard for change to find the original alternative; the system of the Lord of the Worlds that He sent down as a mercy to all people; the caliphate system that built hospitals when the West was in its dark ages, and guaranteed free treatment for everyone regardless of any affiliation.
The Caliphate state is the one that will set global standards for health care and medical research, away from utilitarian and profitable values, and will create a health care system that ensures the medical needs of all subjects, regardless of race, religion, or sect, and the greedy intellectual property rights and patent laws will be abolished in the medical field, and in all areas of life, and this will create an intellectual revolution in medical research, as well as providing medicines at affordable prices. This is a drop in the ocean of the virtues of the caliphate, and for such a thing let the workers work, and tomorrow is near for those who wait.
