Radar: A Reading of the International Scene and the Conflict Over Sudan
By: Professor Hatem Al-Attar
Allah Almighty said: ﴿Did you pierce it to drown its people? You have certainly done a grave thing.﴾
With this Quranic verse, what is happening in Sudan can be summarized as an absurd war managed from abroad and carried out by local hands, in a scene that reproduces colonialism in a new guise, and drowns the country in a spiral of blood and division.
Firstly: From British colonialism to American hegemony, since the entry of British colonialism into Sudan in the nineteenth century, a deep political and cultural influence has been established through the dual administration (English-Egyptian). After independence in 1956, Sudan began to witness an internal conflict between civilians and the military, which in essence is a reflection of an external conflict between the men of Europe and the men of America.
– In 1958, General Ibrahim Abboud carried out the first military coup, but it did not last long, as it was overthrown by the October Revolution of 1964, which restored civilian rule. Then came a civilian government led by political parties with a historical connection to British influence, such as the Umma Party and the Democratic Unionist Party.
– In 1969, Jaafar Nimeiri overthrew the civilian government in the name of the “Free Officers,” and a new phase of military rule began, lasting 16 years, during which allegiances tended towards America, especially after his alliance with it in the eighties of the last century.
– Nimeiri's rule ended with the April Revolution of 1985, and a civilian government led by Sadiq al-Mahdi returned, to restore the balance towards the forces associated with European influence. Thus, Sudan remained oscillating between the hammer of the military loyal to America and the anvil of civilians linked to Europe, in a political cycle managed from the outside more than it is managed from the inside.
Secondly: The American Plan
– Hegemony, and the liquidation of European influence by supporting military coups that overthrow elites linked to Britain and Europe and imposing agreements that reshape allegiances.
– Establishing America's men in power by supporting military and civilian figures loyal to it, and imposing transitional paths that keep Sudan in a state of instability.
– Accelerating the separation of Darfur after the separation of the South, by supporting armed movements and fueling ethnic conflict, and using the war as a pretext for internationalizing the file and imposing a secessionist solution.
Thirdly: America's tools in implementing the plan include military coups, changing regimes in favor of figures loyal to America, international agreements such as Naivasha and Doha to dismantle Sudan's unity, humanitarian organizations as a gateway to political intervention and international pressure, conditional funding, imposing economic agendas that weaken national sovereignty, and regional alliances and the use of countries such as the Emirates and Saudi Arabia as executive arms of the American project.
Fourthly: The current war – piercing the ship to drown its people.
The war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces is not just an internal conflict, but an American tool to reshape Sudan. America is fueling the conflict by supporting two conflicting parties, then intervening as a mediator to impose a solution that serves its interests. The ultimate goal is to divide Sudan into weak entities, easy to control, and completely remove European influence.
Fifthly: The solution is not through international settlements managed from the capitals of colonialism and its embassies in our country, but through the establishment of the Rightly Guided Caliphate on the Prophetic method, which unites the nation and cuts off the hand of foreign intervention in its country. Therefore, supporting the sincere people in the Sudanese army who realize that siding with the nation's project is a victory for Islam, not for a party or a person, but for a divine approach that restores the nation's prestige and sovereignty, and that mass political awareness is the cornerstone in confronting this plan, and that the nation is capable of rising if a sincere leadership and a clear vision are available.
In conclusion, the ship is being breached from the inside, but the hand that carries the means of the breach, its plans and designs extend from Washington, London and Paris. Unless the people of Sudan realize the reality of the battle, complete drowning is inevitable. War is only a means to redraw maps, liquidate influence, and establish hegemony. But awareness is the first step towards salvation, and victory is the key to real change.
