Al-Raya Newspaper: The Islamic Creed is the Basis of Salvation and the Compass of Life
The creed linguistically is what is held in the heart, and in Sharia it is to believe in God, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and destiny, both good and evil, as stated in the two Sahihs on the authority of Omar bin Al-Khattab that a man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, asking and confirming him until he said: "Tell me about faith?" He said: "To believe in God, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and to believe in destiny, both good and evil."
It is the firm belief that corresponds to reality with evidence. The creed of Islam is an intellectual creed, as a person must make his mind a guide to belief in the inevitability of the existence of the Creator, glory be to Him, and that He created the universe from nothing, and that He does not resemble any of His creatures, and that the Quran is the word of God, and that Muhammad ﷺ is a messenger from God. Then he takes what came with the textual evidence of the pillars of faith, and the role of the mind is limited to the firm belief in what the definitive evidence came with, which the mind cannot be evidence for.
The Islamic creed is a political creed, meaning that it is not a priestly creed, in which the believer is satisfied with believing that the universe has a creator only, and separates it from all or some of the affairs of his life. Rather, it is a political creed in the sense that it emanates from a system that manages human life and interests, and governs and cares for his affairs. From it emanate the rulings of Islamic Sharia, which regulate all human relations, whether his relationship with his Creator, his relationship with himself, or with other creatures. Among these relationships is the relationship of governance between the ruler and the ruled, which is that the owner of the universe, who is God Almighty alone, has the right to ownership, disposal, and management of what He created.
We find that one of the requirements of the creed is that it regulates the issue of governance, so the Muslim believes that governance belongs to God, and from here came the term creed of governance.
The creed is the basis of the radical change in the mentality and psychology of a person, as it makes him an Islamic personality. The creed of governance is the first entitlement of the word of monotheism, that is, the first entitlement of the testimony that there is no god but God, Muhammad is the Messenger of God. Without the creed of governance, the word of monotheism becomes meaningless, and its impact becomes ordinary or transient. The creed of governance is the required practical application for Islamic life, or in other words, it is the basis of the conflict between Islam and disbelief.
The creed of governance, theoretically, according to the commentators on the creed, lies in two things: The first is the existential governance, meaning that God Almighty is the controller of the universe in terms of creation, destiny, and estimation, and this is only denied by atheists. But our topic is the second thing, which is the legislative governance, which in terms of importance is in the third thing.
It is true that the disbelievers do not want Islam as a whole, but there are three things that if they succeed in one of them, they will have gained control over Islam and Muslims.
- The first thing is to remove the sanctity from the Quranic texts. Orientalists have written a book about this called "The History of the Quran," and it took about 80 years to write it. Its author was the devil of the orientalists, Lundke. They see that the Quran is the word of a human being that can be criticized, analyzed, discussed, researched, and thought about. Therefore, it is not unquestionable and sacred to them. But they did not succeed in this because Muslims sanctify their religion no matter what the situation.
- The second thing is to undermine the truth of the Sunnah and attack the books of Bukhari and Muslim and others, and they also did not succeed in this with the majority of Muslims, even if they were able to win individuals who call themselves enlightened, but in reality they were not able to inject their poison into the Muslim nation, so they did not succeed even by undermining the truth of the Sunnah.
- As for the third thing, it is the war on the creed of governance, and in this they have succeeded and gained control over the Muslims. We will detail how they succeeded in some things to bring the mind closer.
The Quran commands adherence to the rope of God, but they have succeeded in dividing the nation. The Quran commands not to ally with the disbelievers, but today Muslims are dragged to the Security Council and the International Court of Justice, which are colonial institutions that only serve the interests of the disbelievers, and reality is the greatest witness and evidence.
The Quran commands jihad to exalt the word of God, but today Muslims are fighting among themselves for the sake of the homeland, and they forget the creed ﴿The believers are but brothers﴾, and the Quran does not approve of any system other than the system of Islam, and the disbelievers have been able to make the systems of government in Muslim countries republican and monarchical... and other systems that contradict the creed of Islam, which perpetuate the fragmentation of the nation.
The Quran commands us to support our weak Muslim brothers in any country, but today Gaza is dying and the armies are guarding the borders drawn by colonialism in agreements such as the Sykes-Picot Agreement. There are more than sixty verses of the Holy Book that revolve around the sovereignty of God.
Therefore, without the creed of governance, the two testimonies become incomplete, and it is not possible to reach faith and achieve it except through it, ﴿But no, by your Lord, they will not [truly] believe until they make you, [O Muhammad], judge concerning that over which they dispute among themselves, and then find within themselves no discomfort from what you have judged and submit in [full, willing] submission.﴾ Without the creed of governance, Islam becomes mere acts of worship practiced in mosques, and even the acts of worship will be left without linking them to it.
The Messenger of God ﷺ says: "The bonds of Islam will be broken one by one, and every time a bond is broken, people will cling to the one that follows it, and the first of them to be broken is the judgment, and the last of them is the prayer." Therefore, Islam made the obligation of judgment in the position of the crown of obligations, which if disrupted, the rest of the rulings would fade away until the last of them is prayer.
Therefore, when looking at the reality of people, you see them living with different standards in life, and every person has a standard. You see a person whose standard is personal interest, and he does not care about his society, his country, or even his religion, and he has nothing of religion to adhere to except what concerns him, such as prayer and fasting, and you see him uttering the claim (leave creation to the Creator), so this person and others like him, their existence and non-existence are the same, they live only for their personal interest. And God says about those whose condition is this: ﴿Have you seen he who has taken as his god his [own] desire?﴾ The person with a personal interest certainly follows his desire; because he is contrary to the religion of God by taking the religion of God selectively, he takes what agrees with his interest and what opposes his interest as if he did not hear it!
As for the second standard, it is as if he is following his master or sheikh or following his leader in general; whoever is in this condition has made his leader, who is a human being like him, a lord besides God. On the authority of Adi bin Hatim, he said: I came to the Prophet ﷺ with a cross of gold around my neck. He said: I heard him say: ﴿They have taken their scholars and monks as lords besides Allah﴾. He said: I said: O Messenger of God, they did not worship them. He said: "Yes, but they make lawful for them what God has forbidden, so they make it lawful, and they forbid them what God has made lawful, so they forbid it, and that is their worship of them."
As for the owner of the third standard, he is the ideological person who walks in life according to the judgment of God Almighty, and he turns with the evidence wherever it turns, and he does not pay attention to his interest if he thinks it is contrary to the evidence. This person's ruler in life is God, and he walks in it and has no ruler other than God.
