With the Noble Hadith
Sincerity for every Muslim!!
We greet you all, dear listeners, everywhere, we meet you in a new episode of your program "With the Noble Hadith" and we begin with the best greeting and the purest peace, so peace, mercy and blessings of God be upon you, and thereafter:
Al-Bayhaqi narrated in Shu'ab al-Iman from Ziyad ibn 'Alaqah, who said: I heard Jarir ibn Abdullah saying: "I pledged allegiance to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and he stipulated to me sincerity towards every Muslim." Al-Bukhari narrated it in al-Sahih from Abi Nu'aym. And Muslim extracted it, from the hadith of Ibn 'Uyaynah, from Ziyad. And Muslim narrated in his Sahih from Tamim al-Dari that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: "Religion is sincerity." We said: To whom? He said: "To God, His Book, His Messenger, the leaders of the Muslims, and their common folk."
Sincerity has a great importance in the life of the individual and the nation alike, as it is the foundation of the nation's construction, and it is the protective fence, by God's permission, against division, conflict, and incitement among Muslims, which Satan accepted after he despaired of the worshipers worshiping him in the Arabian Peninsula. Muslim narrated in his Sahih from Jabir, who said: I heard the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, saying: "Satan has despaired of the worshipers worshiping him in the Arabian Peninsula, but in inciting them." That is, but he strives to incite them with disputes, grudges, wars, trials, and others. Satan was satisfied with incitement; because it is a natural beginning to enmity, division, and conflict, leading to fighting and the loss of power. And the greatest comprehensive hadith that clarifies the concept of legal sincerity and its limits, is the hadith that Imam Muslim narrated in his Sahih from Tamim al-Dari that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: "Religion is sincerity." We said: To whom? He said: "To God, His Book, His Messenger, the leaders of the Muslims, and their common folk." This hadith is of great importance, as it stipulates that the pillar of religion and its foundation is sincerity, for with its existence, religion remains established in the nation, and with its absence, deficiency enters the nation in all aspects of its life. And the methodology of the prophets of God and His messengers with their nations was based on sincerity to them and compassion for them, Noah, peace be upon him, said addressing his people: (I convey to you the messages of my Lord and advise you, and I know from God what you do not know). (Al-A'raf 62) And Saleh said to his people: (So he turned away from them and said, "O my people, I have certainly conveyed to you the message of my Lord and advised you, but you do not like advisors"). (Al-A'raf 79) And Hud said to his people: (I convey to you the messages of my Lord, and I am to you a trustworthy advisor). (Al-A'raf 68).
Sincerity is a word that expresses the desire for good for the one being advised, and it is not possible to express this meaning with a single word that encompasses and gathers its meaning other than this word. And sincerity is five types mentioned in the hadith that Muslim narrated in his Sahih from Tamim al-Dari, which are:
1. Sincerity to God: It is by acknowledging His oneness and His uniqueness with the attributes of perfection and the qualities of majesty, and His uniqueness alone in legislation, so there is no legislator and no judge other than Him, judgement is only for God, He commanded that you worship none but Him, and sincerity to God is by performing His worship outwardly and inwardly, by following all His commands, and avoiding all His prohibitions, and turning to Him at all times, with constant repentance and seeking forgiveness; because the servant must fall short in something from the obligations and daring to commit some of the prohibitions, and with repentance and seeking forgiveness, the deficiency is compensated, and the gap is filled.
2. Sincerity to the Book of God: It is by making it the constitution of the nation, and by judging by it in all aspects of life, and rejecting what is other than it from the man-made constitutions, and by learning it and teaching it, and understanding its words, and pondering its meanings, and constantly reciting it and memorizing it, and striving to act according to it, and applying all its rulings.
3. Sincerity to His Messenger: It is by believing in him and loving him, may God bless him and grant him peace, and giving him precedence over oneself, wealth, and children, and following him in the principles of religion and its branches, and giving his word precedence over the word of anyone else, and being guided by his guidance, and supporting his religion and his Sunnah, may God bless him and grant him peace.
4. Sincerity to the leaders of the Muslims: They are the legitimate caliphs who are given allegiance by the nation to rule by the Book of God and the Sunnah of His Messenger, and the governors, emirs, judges, and all those who have general or specific authority, and this sincerity is by acknowledging their authority, and listening and obeying them within the limits of obedience to God, and urging people to do so, and exerting what is possible in guiding them to fulfill their duty, and what benefits them and benefits the people, and enjoining them to do good and forbidding them from doing evil, and speaking the word of truth to them without fearing the blame of a blamer.
5. Sincerity to the general Muslims: It is by loving good for them as one loves for oneself, and hating evil for them as one hates for oneself. And sincerity must have four things:
The first is: Sincerity to God Almighty in sincerity; because it is the core of the deeds; and because sincerity is a right of the believer over the believer, so it is obligatory to be free from desires, personal interests, and bad intentions that may nullify the work, and cause grudges and corruption of the relationship.
The second is: Gentleness in advice, and if the advice is devoid of gentleness, it becomes scolding and reprimanding that is not accepted, and whoever is deprived of gentleness is deprived of all good, as our Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, informed.
The third is: Forbearance after the advice; because the advisor may be faced with someone who dares to attack him or reject his advice, so he must be patient, and one of the requirements of forbearance is: concealment, shyness, non-obscenity, and abandoning indecency.
The fourth is: Patience with the harm that may befall the caller from the unjust rulers who persist in falsehood, and refuse to submit to the truth, and oppress the carriers of the call. God Almighty said: (By time, Indeed, mankind is in loss, Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience). (Al-Asr 1-3)
And it is from the wisdom and insight in the advice to know the worth of people, and give them their due status, and to be gentle with people of virtue and precedence, and to choose the appropriate time for advice, and to choose a balanced method of advice that is far from emotions, and to select the good word, the cheerful face, and the open heart, it is more effective in the soul and more conducive to acceptance and greater reward with God. These are the limits of legal sincerity, and what is contrary to that is rumor-mongering, reproach, and deceit, which are signs of hypocrisy, God forbid, Ali, may God be pleased with him, said: "The believers are advisors, and the hypocrites are deceivers." And others said: "The believer conceals and advises, and the evildoer violates and reproaches and exposes."
And the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, explained sincerity with these five things, which include fulfilling the rights of God, the rights of His Book, the rights of His Messenger, and the rights of all Muslims in their different conditions and classes, so that included the entire religion, and nothing remained of it except that it entered into this comprehensive, complete, and encompassing word, so it was necessary for Muslims to take sincerity as a character among them, for it is the decisive factor for the corruption of the relationship and incitement, and the connector to the meanings of brotherhood and love in God, and it is the most important factor in the cohesion of the community and the nation, and God is the Grantor of success.
Dear listeners: We thank you for your good listening, our appointment with you in the next episode, God willing, so until that time and until we meet you always, we leave you in the care, protection and security of God,
And peace, mercy and blessings of God be upon you.
