With the Noble Hadith
The Disease and the Cure
We greet you all, dear friends, everywhere, in a new episode of your program "With the Noble Hadith," and we begin with the best greeting, peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
It is mentioned in Fath al-Bari, Explanation of Sahih al-Bukhari by Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani - with modification - in the chapter "Let him look at the one who is below him and not look at the one who is above him":
Ismail told us: Malik told me, from Abi Zinad, from Al-Araj, from Abu Hurairah, from the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, who said: "When one of you looks at someone who has been favored over him in wealth and appearance, then let him look at the one who is below him."
Dear listeners:
A cure for whoever goes out of the authority of his mind into the authority of his self is presented to us by our generous Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace. It is human nature to look at things and people and compare, and man is inherently fond of what others have and desires it, such as money, prestige, status, children, and so on, but where will this desire end? It may increase to become a disease that is difficult to control. This cure came from the owner of guidance, the first teacher, may God bless him and grant him peace, who taught us to build a distinguished Islamic personality.
O Muslims:
When this thought takes over us, we must return the train to the track, so that we look at those who are below us in matters of this world. There are those who live in worry, distress, and fatigue. If we look at them, we will know that we are in a great blessing, and that we are in great good, so a feeling of comfort, reassurance, and contentment is generated in us. There is no person who lives in a bad state unless he finds someone who is worse than him, so there must be psychological satisfaction according to what God divides among people. There is no harm here in looking at those who are above us if the matter concerns matters of the hereafter. This balanced equation is the savior from this disease.
O God, hasten for us a righteous caliphate on the Prophetic method, in which the disunity of the Muslims is mended, and what they are in of affliction is lifted from them. O God, illuminate the earth with the light of Your generous face. O God, Amen, Amen.
Dear beloved ones, until we meet you with another prophetic hadith, we leave you in God's care, and peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
