With the Hadith
Modesty is a Branch of Faith
We greet you all, dear friends, everywhere, in a new episode of your program "With the Hadith," and we begin with the best greeting: peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
It is mentioned in Sahih Muslim, in the explanation of Imam Al-Nawawi "with modifications" in "The Book of Faith."
Abdullah bin Muhammad Al-Ja'fi narrated to us, saying: Abu Amer Al-Aqadi narrated to us, saying: Sulaiman bin Bilal narrated to us, from Abdullah bin Dinar, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah, may God be pleased with him, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "Faith has sixty-odd branches, and modesty is a branch of faith."
Dear listeners:
Faith has degrees and levels that many people do not pay attention to. If one of them prays and fasts, he thinks that he has completed the bonds of Islam, and has become very close to faith and knowledge of God. This is due to the ignorance that has plagued the heart of this nation during decades of intellectual and jurisprudential weakness. Perhaps this hadith contains matters that every Muslim must understand.
O Muslims:
The modesty mentioned in the hadith is only an example of what it means to be a believer. It is an indication that faith does not stop at the declaration of faith, prayer, fasting, and zakat, but also refers to the Muslim's relationship with his Creator, with himself, and with others. A Muslim should be modest before God, modest before himself, and modest before others. In this way, the manifestations of morals will be high and sublime. If the characteristic of modesty accompanies people's relationships with each other, then what about the rest of the characteristics? There is no doubt that society at that time will be characterized by these morals, and it will be a society dominated by elevation, strength, and faith. But when will that be achieved when those who plant such morals in the nation are absent? When will that be achieved when the head of this nation is corrupt?!
O God, hasten for us a rightly guided caliphate on the path of the Prophethood, in which the disunity of the Muslims is mended, and what they are suffering from calamity is lifted from them. O God, illuminate the earth with the light of Your generous face. O God, Amen, Amen.
Dear friends, until we meet you with another prophetic hadith, we leave you in God's care, and peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
