With the Hadith
Fighting in the Path of God
We greet you all, dear friends, everywhere, in a new episode of your program "With the Hadith," and we begin with the best greeting: Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
It is mentioned in Sahih Muslim, in the explanation of Imam al-Nawawi "with modification" in "Chapter on one who asks a standing scholar sitting".
Uthman narrated to us saying: Jarir narrated to us from Mansour from Abi Wael from Abi Musa who said: A man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, and said: O Messenger of God, what is fighting in the path of God? For one of us fights out of anger and fights out of zealotry. He raised his head to him and he only raised his head to him because he was standing, and he said: "Whoever fights so that the word of God is the highest, then he is in the path of God, the Almighty and Sublime."
Dear listeners:
Whoever fights so that the word of God is the highest, then he is in the path of God. Shouldn't the sons of this nation hear these words? Shouldn't they stand before themselves to learn the matter of their religion, to learn the meaning of this life, to learn that their life and death are for God? How can the sons of Muhammad, peace and blessings of God be upon him, accept for themselves to live and die for the sake of other than God? For the sake of this ruler or that?
O Muslims:
This is what is happening - unfortunately - these days with some of them who are content to be with those who stay behind, who are content and follow, who are content to fight in the armies of the nation under a blind banner, to support the ruler of that country, and who are they fighting? They are fighting another Muslim from their own people, who has risen up against the ruler to say to him: You are unjust. So how can this fighting be in the path of God? So, O you who seek the face of God in your deeds and in your striving and fighting, know the matter of your religion, and work to remove your rulers, and stand before God devoutly, fighting only your enemy, and working to exalt this religion.
O God, hasten for us a rightly guided caliphate on the Prophetic methodology, gathering the scattered Muslims, removing from them what they are in of affliction. O God, illuminate the earth with the light of Your noble face. O God, Amen, Amen.
Our dear beloved ones, and until we meet you with another prophetic hadith, we leave you in God's care, and peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
