On the Hadith
"Following the Sunnah of the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him"
We greet you all, dear listeners everywhere, in a new episode of your program "On the Hadith" and we begin with the best greeting, peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
It is mentioned in Al-Sindi's footnote, in explaining Sunan Ibn Majah "with modification", in the chapter "Following the Sunnah of the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him."
Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah told us: Shariq told us, from Al-A`mash, from Abi Salih, from Abu Hurairah, who said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: "Whatever I command you to do, take it, and whatever I forbid you from doing, abstain from it."
His saying: (Whatever I command you to do, take it, etc.) This hadith is like an interpretation of the Almighty's saying: "And whatever the Messenger has given you - take; and what he has forbidden you - refrain from." And "what" in both places is conditional, as Al-Suyuti mentioned, then his saying: What I have commanded you to do, includes the command of obligation and recommendation. And his saying "take it": that is, adhere to it for the sake of the absolute request that includes obligation and recommendation, so it applies to both categories. It was said: This is specific to the command of obligation, and likewise his saying: What I have forbidden you from doing, includes the prohibition of prohibition and purification, and so is the request in his saying: Refrain from it, includes both categories, and it may be specific to the prohibition of prohibition. And the address, even if it was for those present by default, but the ruling is universally applicable to those who are absent, and there are two opinions on the comprehensiveness of the address for them, and according to the estimation, its scope includes the Mujtahid and the follower.
Dear listeners:
Praise be to God who made us among those who work to implement God's rule on earth, and among the nation there were those who realized the meaning of the noble verse, "And whatever the Messenger has given you - take; and what he has forbidden you - refrain from" and the honorable Hadith that we are about to discuss, to confirm a legitimate fact, which is that Islam must be applied in full.
If all of it were applied except for one ruling, such as someone who wants to rule and says: We will apply all the rulings of Islam, from marital relations to foreign policy and international relations, except for the ruling on theft, we do not want to cut off the hand, if he does that, he falls into what is forbidden, and no longer applies Islam, and that is the meaning of the hadith, (WHATEVER I COMMAND YOU TO DO, TAKE IT, AND WHATEVER I FORBID YOU FROM DOING, ABSTAIN FROM IT), so "what" is one of the words of generality, so it encompasses all the rulings of Sharia absolutely, and the command is for obligation.
Dear listeners, and until we meet you with another prophetic hadith, we leave you in God's care, and peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
