Chapter: The Extremists Are Doomed

It is mentioned in Sahih Imam Muslim in Al-Nawawi's commentary "with modifications" in "Chapter: The Extremists Are Doomed"
Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah narrated to us, saying: Hafs bin Ghiyath and Yahya bin Saeed narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, from Sulaiman bin Atiq, from Talq bin Habib, from Al-Ahnaf bin Qais, from Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The extremists are doomed," and he said it three times.
The Prophet's saying, peace and blessings be upon him: "(The extremists are doomed)" means those who are overly meticulous, excessive, and transgress the limits in their words and deeds. Scholars have mentioned examples of strictness and extremism, including a person taking upon themselves an act of worship that they cannot handle, which leads them to miss something better or become bored and stop. This is like someone who takes on voluntary night prayers and prolongs them until they are tired from staying up, so their eyes overcome them and they miss the Fajr prayer in congregation, or performing it in its preferred or necessary time. Another example is adhering to the strict option when a concession is available, such as someone who forgoes the concession of breaking the fast while traveling or sick, or forgoes dry ablution and uses water even though it harms them... Another form of extremism is asking too many questions and branching out into minor details. The righteous predecessors disliked asking about things that had not yet happened, and if they were asked about something that had not happened, they would say: Leave it until it happens.
Dear listeners:
In this dark period we are living in, in which conspiracies against Islam and Muslims have increased, and in which the blood of Muslims flows like rivers in all regions, in these circumstances, the criminal infidels exploit some Muslims, especially those who have been afflicted with intellectual turmoil, whether from those who neglect or exaggerate in understanding the religion.
As for the reason for this intellectual turmoil and deviation in understanding from the truth, it goes back to the sweeping invasion of Western civilization, which has completely controlled our thinking and taste, changing our concepts of life.
When Western civilization appeared in the lands of Islam and its civil forms and material progress appeared, it dazzled the eyes of many. So they began to take these civil forms and imitate Western civilization without distinguishing between Western civilization and civil forms, and without realizing that civilization means the totality of concepts about life, and that it is a specific way of life. And that civilization is the tangible material forms that are used as means and tools in life. Therefore, we saw fatwas allowing the taking of Western civilization in its entirety without distinction. In contrast, we saw those who stood against this civilization, rejecting it completely, rejecting everything it produced, even if it was knowledge and sciences that had nothing to do with concepts about life. So the proponents of this view were unduly strict, and with their strictness, they forbade what God had permitted them, deviated from the Quranic text, and were excessive.
O Muslims:
Why and for whose benefit is this intellectual turmoil? And for whose benefit is this strictness and extremism?
There is no doubt that the attack on religion is fierce, it is a war on Islam and its ideas, so when the West could not eliminate Islam directly, it decided to eliminate the correct understanding of it among its followers. The matter has reached some Muslims to the point that they accept holding Friday prayers without a preacher, where they suffice with listening to the sermon through a recording device. It is the dirty attack on Islam and its ideas, the attack that has led some of them to prohibit the marriage of relatives such as cousins, for example, at a time when the marriage of relatives is permissible. What kind of religion is this that they want for Muslims? It is the religion of Western civilization, which has not ceased to search for a way to eliminate it. But we take the hadith of the Messenger - may God bless him and grant him peace - "The extremists are doomed" with optimism, for the fate of these extremists is doom, and that is when things are put in their proper place, when the true caliphate is established, and it is coming soon, God willing. At that time, the correct rulings will be put into practice and the extremist rulings will be rejected.
O God, hasten for us a caliphate that gathers the scattered Muslims, relieves them of the affliction they are in, O God, illuminate the earth with the light of Your noble face. O God, Amen, Amen.
