"Chapter on What Was Said About the One Who Interprets the Quran According to His Opinion"
We greet you all, dear listeners everywhere, in a new episode of your program "With the Hadith" and we begin with the best greeting, peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
It is mentioned in Tuhfat Al-Ahwadhi, in the explanation of Jami' Al-Tirmidhi "with modification" in "Chapter on What Was Said About the One Who Interprets the Quran According to His Opinion."
Mahmoud bin Ghailan narrated to us, who said Bishr bin Al-Sirri narrated to us, who said Sufyan narrated to us, from Abd Al-A'la, from Saeed bin Jubair, from Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with them, who said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever speaks about the Quran without knowledge, let him take his seat in the Fire." Abu Issa said: This is a good and sound hadith.
Tafsir (interpretation) is a verbal noun from the root "fasr," which means explanation. You say: "fasartu al-shay'a" (I explained the thing) with takhfeef (lightening), "afsuruhu fasran" (I explain it with an explanation), and "fassartuhu" (I explained it) with tashdeed (emphasis), "ufassiruhu tafsiran" (I explain it with an interpretation) if I make it clear. The origin of "fasr" is the doctor's examination of water to know the ailment, and they differed in Tafsir and Ta'weel (interpretation). Abu Ubaidah and a group said: They have the same meaning, while others differentiated between them. Tafsir is the unveiling of the intended meaning of the ambiguous word. The author of Al-Nihayah narrated that Ta'weel is moving the apparent meaning of the word from its original placement to what needs evidence, without which the apparent meaning of the word would not be abandoned.
His saying: (Whoever speaks about the Quran without knowledge) means without definitive or probable evidence, transmitted or rational, that conforms to the Sharia, as Al-Qari said. Al-Manawi said: Meaning a statement that he knows the truth is other than it, and he said in his problem with what is not known (let him take his seat in the Fire), meaning let him prepare his place in the Fire, it was said the command is for threat and warning, and it was said the command means information. Ibn Hajar said: And the people most deserving of what it contains of warning are a group of people of innovation who stripped the word of the Quran of what it indicated and intended by it or carried it on what it did not indicate and did not intend by it in both matters of what they intended to negate or affirm from the meaning, so they are mistaken in the evidence and the indicated. Among these are those who insert innovations and false interpretations into their eloquent speech, which is promoted to most of the Sunnis, like the author of Al-Kashshaf,
Dear listeners:
This is the state of many scholars these days, they interpret the texts in a way that is not tolerated, they interpret the Quran with their minds and desires and what their devils dictate to them, so they came out to us with fatwas that have no connection to Islam, they please their guardians as they like to call them, so they made usury permissible for Muslims, and they made reconciliation with their enemy permissible, and they made democracy, secularism, and civil state permissible for them, and before that nationalism and patriotism, and they made mixing permissible for them and that women wear in public life what they want, and they made selling alcohol and wearing bikinis on beaches permissible under the pretext of tourism, which constitutes an important economic source, and they made joint-stock companies and gambling permissible, and they made the existence of those who do not rule by what God revealed permissible, and called him the guardian of affairs and the blessing, and they held false and wrong pledge ceremonies for some of these, and in return they forbade Muslims from jihad in the path of God, and called whoever performs this great duty and defends himself in front of the enemies of God and religion a terrorist, and they remained silent about those who insulted our noble Messenger - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him -; rather, they justified this by arguing that they are the officials who did not convey the religion to them. And the list between prohibition and analysis is long, long, and all of that is based on the principle of interpreting the Quran with opinion and reason, so did this group of scholars realize what the state of the nation has become because of their desires and opinions?!.
Dear listeners, and until we meet you with another prophetic hadith, we leave you in God's care, and peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
