With the Hadith
Starting with Peace is a Door to Goodness
We greet you all, dear friends, everywhere, in a new episode of your program "With the Hadith" and we start with the best greeting, peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
On the authority of Abu Hurairah, may God be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: «The rider greets the walker, the walker greets the seated, and the few greet the many.» Narrated by Bukhari, No. 2160.
Dear listeners:
Al-Hafiz said in Al-Fath: Scholars have spoken about the wisdom in what God Almighty has legislated for them by starting with peace. Some said: The young greet the old for the sake of the right of the old; because he was commanded to respect them and be humble to them, and the few greet the many for the sake of the right of the many; because their right is greater and for the virtue of the group, and the rider greets the walker so that he does not become arrogant in his riding, so he returns to humility, and so on...
O Muslims:
We proceed to explain the right of the group over individuals through the glimpse mentioned in the hadith, or if you like, the right of the party over the individuals of the nation. If the greeting of the few to the many is obligatory, then what is above the greeting is more obligatory. Whoever hears about a group calling to God and carrying jurisprudence, thought, and knowledge should hasten to offer them peace first, and ask about their call, jurisprudence, and thought second, and proceed to work with them if what they call for agrees with the words of God and His Messenger. This is a great door of goodness that begins with peace.
O God, hasten us with a righteous caliphate on the path of prophecy, in which the disunity of the Muslims is mended, and what they are suffering from affliction is lifted from them. O God, illuminate the earth with the light of Your gracious face. O God, Amen, Amen.
Our dear friends, until we meet you with another prophetic hadith, we leave you in God's care, and peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
