With the Hadith
The Virtue of Ribat in the Path of Allah
We greet you all, dear listeners, everywhere, in a new episode of your program "With the Hadith," and we begin with the best greeting: peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
Narrated Muhammad bin Al-Munkadir: Salman Al-Farisi passed by Shurahbil bin Al-Simt while he was in a Murabit of his and he was being hard on himself and his companions. He said: Shall I not tell you, O Ibn Al-Simt, a Hadith that I heard from the Messenger of Allah , peace and blessings of Allah be upon him? He said: Yes. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah , peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saying: "Ribat for one day in the cause of Allah is better - and perhaps he said: better - than fasting a month and praying its nights, and whoever dies in it is protected from the trial of the grave, and his deeds will be increased for him until the Day of Resurrection."
It is mentioned in Tuhfat Al-Ahwadhi in explaining Jami` At-Tirmidhi
His saying: (while he was in a Murabit of his) a noun of place from Ribat
His saying: (and he was being hard) meaning it was difficult to stand in it
His saying: (Ribat for one day) and in a narration by Muslim: a day and a night
(and perhaps he said: better) meaning instead of better
(is protected from the trial of the grave) meaning from what the buried person is tempted with, from the squeezing of the grave, the questioning, and the torment
(and his deeds will be increased) It is said in Al-Qamus: nama yanmu numuwwan zada, like "nama yanmi wa numiyyan wa nama'an" ended.
(for him his deeds until the Day of Resurrection)
Meaning that his reward will continue for him always and will not be cut off by his death. And in a narration by Muslim: "His deeds that he used to do will continue to be done for him, his provision will continue to be given to him, and he will be secured from the tempter." An-Nawawi said: This is a clear virtue for the Murabit, and the continuation of his deeds for him after his death is a virtue specific to him, in which no one shares with him, and it has come explicitly in other than Muslim. The deeds of every dead person are sealed, except for the Murabit, for his deeds are increased for him until the Day of Resurrection. ended.
Dear listeners:
One of the consequences of jihad is ribat, which is staying in the frontier to strengthen the Muslims. The frontier is every place on the borders of the enemy whose people frighten the enemy and are frightened by them. In other words, it is the place beyond which there is no Islam. The purpose of ribat is to stay in the frontiers to exalt the religion and repel the evil of the disbelievers from the Muslims. Staying in any place where an enemy attack is expected with the intention of repelling it is considered ribat, because the origin of ribat is from the horses of ribat mentioned in the verse: (And prepare against them whatever you are able of power and of steeds of war by which you may terrify the enemy of Allah and your enemy). Ribat can be short or long, so any period he stays with the intention of ribat is ribat, whether it is short or long, and that is why he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: (ribat of one day) and in another narration (a day and a night).
In conclusion, he, peace and blessings be upon him, says: (Guarding for one night in the path of Allah is better than a thousand nights of praying its nights and fasting its days)
Dear listeners, until we meet you with another prophetic hadith, we leave you in God's care, and peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
