With the Hadith
A person speaks a word without thinking about it
We greet you all, dear listeners, everywhere in a new episode of your program "With the Hadith," and we begin with the best greeting: peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
On the authority of Abu Hurairah, may God be pleased with him, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "Indeed, a person speaks a word pleasing to God without thinking about it, and God raises him in degrees because of it, and indeed, a person speaks a word displeasing to God without thinking about it, and he plummets into Hell because of it."
It was mentioned in Fath Al-Bari in explaining Sahih Al-Bukhari
His saying (does not think about it) means he does not contemplate it in his mind, does not think about its consequences, and does not think it will affect anything. It is like His saying, "You thought it was insignificant while it was great in the sight of Allah."
His saying (plummets) Iyad said: The meaning is that he falls down into it.
Dear listeners:
Among the lessons learned from this noble hadith is that a Muslim must weigh his words before they are weighed against him, so he should only say what is good and pure. The noble verses and hadiths have been combined in this chapter:
God Almighty said: ((And they were guided to good speech))
And God Almighty said: ((And speak to people good words))
And He Almighty said: ((And tell My servants to say that which is best))
And He Almighty said: ((To Him ascends good speech, and righteous work raises it))
And he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ((Protect yourselves from the Fire, even with half a date. If you cannot find it, then with a kind word))
And he said: ((Whoever believes in God and the Last Day, let him say good or be silent))
And he said: ((Restrain your tongue))
And he said: ((And what causes people to be thrown into Hell on their faces or noses except the harvests of their tongues?))
And on the authority of Abdullah bin Amr, may God be pleased with them, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: ((In Paradise there is a room whose outside can be seen from its inside, and its inside from its outside. Abu Malik al-Ash'ari said: For whom is it, O Messenger of God? He said: For those who speak kindly, feed food, and spend the night standing while people are sleeping))
And on the authority of Abdullah bin Masoud, may God be pleased with him, who said: (By God, besides whom there is no god, there is nothing more in need of long imprisonment than my tongue)
And he used to say: (O tongue, say good and you will gain, and be silent about evil before you regret it)
The wonder of wonders, dear listeners, is from those who utter vulgar words without thinking about them
The wonder of wonders is from a Muslim who declares his Muslim brother an infidel without thinking about his words
The wonder of wonders is from those who lie about Islamic groups and attribute to them what they did not say without thinking about what they broadcast
The wonder of wonders is from those who cause corruption among people
And the wonder of wonders is from every backbiter and slanderer
Beware, beware, dear listeners, of the wrath of the Almighty, the Compeller, who says: (Not a word does he utter but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it))
Dear listeners, until we meet you with another Prophetic hadith, we leave you in God's care, and peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
