Regarding the Noble Hadith
The Sin of Speaking About Allah Without Knowledge
Az-Zuhri narrated from Amr ibn Shu'aib from his father from his grandfather who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, heard people arguing, so he said: "Those before you were destroyed by this, they compared parts of the Book of Allah with other parts. The Book of Allah was revealed to confirm each other, so do not deny parts of it with other parts. Whatever you know, say it, and what you do not know, refer it to its scholars." Narrated by Ahmad in his Musnad.
Ayyub narrated from Ibn Mulaykah who said: Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, was asked about a verse, and he said: What land would carry me, and what sky would shade me? Where would I go? And what would I do if I said something about the Book of Allah that Allah did not intend?
It is authentically reported from Ibn Masoud and Ibn Abbas: Whoever gives people verdicts on everything they ask him is insane.
Al-Shafi’i, may Allah have mercy on him, said: I heard Malik say: I heard Ibn Ajlan say: If the scholar neglects to say “I do not know,” he has been fatally wounded, and Ibn Ajlan mentioned it from Ibn Abbas.
Abu Husain Al-Asadi said: One of them gives a verdict on a matter that if it had come to Omar, he would have gathered the people of Badr for it.
And from Ibn Masoud: Whoever has knowledge, let him speak with it, and whoever does not have knowledge, let him say: "Allah knows best," for Allah said to His Prophet: {Say, "I do not ask you for it any payment, nor am I of those who pretend."}
If this was the saying of the righteous predecessors of the Ummah from the Companions and the Successors, who were the best generations in terms of knowledge, deeds, and piety, then what do the scholars of this time say, those who dare to speak about the religion of Allah and give verdicts to people in a way that Allah did not intend? Why do they rush into the Fire, seeking the vanities of the world, pleasing their rulers and displeasing their Lord, misleading people from the knowledge of those scholars of the sultans about whom our noble Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If you see scholars at the doors of the sultans, then fear for your religion from them."
