With the Hadith
No one has ever eaten food.....
We greet you all, dear listeners, everywhere, in a new episode of your program "With the Hadith," and we begin with the best greeting, so peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
Al-Bukhari narrated in his Sahih:
"Ibrahim bin Musa told us, Isa bin Yunus told us, from Thawr, from Khalid bin Ma'dan, from Al-Miqdam, may God be pleased with him
From the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, he said: "No one has ever eaten better food than that which he eats from the work of his hand, and the Prophet of God, David, peace be upon him, used to eat from the work of his hand."
It was mentioned in Fath al-Bari by Ibn Hajar in the explanation of this hadith:
His saying: (No one ate)
Al-Ismaili added "from the children of Adam."
His saying: (food ever better than to eat from the work of his hand)
In Al-Ismaili's narration, "better" is nominative, which is permissible, and in a narration by him, it is "from the earnings of his hands." What is meant by "better" is what necessitates working with the hand, which is being independent from people. Ibn Majah narrated through Umar bin Saad from Khalid bin Ma'dan from him, "A man has never earned anything better than the work of his hands," and Ibn al-Mundhir narrated from this perspective, "A man has never eaten food that is more lawful than the work of his hands." In the benefits of Hisham bin Ammar from Baqiyyah, he said: Umar bin Saad narrated to me with this chain of narrators similar to the hadith of the chapter and added, "Whoever spends the night weary from his work, spends the night forgiven." End.
Dear listeners
There is no doubt that earning money is the concern of every person. Without money, a person cannot obtain his basic or luxury needs for life...Islam has addressed the problem of earning or ownership by legislating means of ownership, which are limited to:
Work
Inheritance
The need for money for the sake of life
The state giving money to the people from its funds
Money that individuals take without payment or effort
In this noble hadith, the noble Messenger urges the first reason for ownership, which is work.
Whether the work is with the hand or with the mind, the important thing is to work to earn his living by himself and not rely on others. Whether the work is in agriculture, industry, trade, or services, all work is acceptable and commendable, provided that it is lawful work so that the earning is lawful and good. Islam has forbidden benefiting from anything forbidden, such as carrion and alcohol, so it has forbidden working in their manufacture or trading in them, just as it has forbidden benefiting from forbidden effort, such as prostitution and dancing, so it has forbidden working in prostitution and dancing and the like.
The noble hadith, in praising the one who works with his hand and earns from his sweat, does so to teach people activity and ambition, to preserve honor and dignity, and to discourage them from idleness, laziness, and begging by relying on others to obtain money....
It was narrated from Abu Huraira that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said:
By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, for one of you to take his rope and go to the mountain and gather firewood, then bring it and carry it on his back and sell it and eat, is better for him than to ask, and for him to take dirt and put it in his mouth is better for him than to put in his mouth what God has forbidden for him.
Dear listeners
Work is an act of worship through which a person draws closer to God, where he earns what enables him to spend on himself and his family and becomes independent of others, thus preserving his dignity. Above that, he serves his nation and society and attains the love of God and His Messenger.
O God, grant us Your love and the love of Your Messenger, and gather us with him on the Day of Resurrection at his honorable basin to give us a drink from his honorable hand, a drink after which we will never thirst again... O God, Amen.
Dear listeners, until we meet you with another prophetic hadith, we leave you in God's care, and peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
