Details:
The medical staff working at Al-Zahrawi Hospital in Idlib were surprised, two days ago, by an unannounced visit from an administrative and international delegation from the International Medical Corps (IMC) coming from the Syrian capital, Damascus, accompanied by the organization's country director in Syria, Wafaa Sadiq, known for her public positions in support of the Syrian regime. The visit sparked widespread anger and resentment among workers in the humanitarian sector, especially in the organization's branch office in Sarmada and the medical centers spread throughout Idlib Governorate. The workers described the visit as an attempt to impose figures loyal to the regime in sensitive positions in humanitarian work, in blatant violation of the principle of neutrality and independence. According to reliable field sources, the organization's management exerted direct pressure by threatening local staff with a complete cessation of support for Syria if they refused to accept the appointment of Wafaa Sadiq (of British nationality and Syrian origin) and her deputy, Ghassan Al-Saloum (of Lebanese nationality), considering this "a single option with no alternative." In a clear response to these policies, the staff at Al-Zahrawi Hospital organized a peaceful protest coinciding with the delegation's arrival in Idlib, in which the workers expressed their protest and absolute rejection of this visit, which prompted the delegation to remain inside the cars and not descend to the field. The protesters raised banners in Arabic and English, bearing prominent slogans including: "Humanity is indivisible" and "No room for bias in the humanitarian work environment." The protesters emphasized that Wafaa Sadiq's assumption of this position, despite her declared record of supporting the Syrian regime, constitutes an insult to the victims of the Syrian revolution and a denial of the tragedies of the Syrian people, referring to her previous statements justifying the use of barrel bombs against civilians, and describing the rebels as "terrorists."
Idlib Governorate, in cooperation with the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Disaster Management, launched a large-scale campaign to remove rubble from areas damaged by destruction, following an official meeting between the Governor of Idlib, Muhammad Abdul Rahman, and the Minister of Emergency Situations and Disaster Relief, Raed Al-Saleh, in the governorate building, in the presence of the directors of the Idlib, Maarat al-Numan, and Khan Sheikhoun regions. The meeting concluded with several decisions, most notably increasing the number of vehicles and heavy equipment to speed up removal work, facilitating the return of residents to their homes, in addition to expanding the scope of mine clearance and war remnants, by supporting specialized engineering teams, which enhances opportunities for stability and ensures a safe environment in those areas.
The Syrian Ministry of Information denied, on Sunday, the validity of news circulated by the media regarding "thwarting an assassination attempt against President Ahmed Al-Shara during his visit to Daraa Governorate," stressing that this information is completely unfounded. A source in the ministry said, in an official statement, that "what has been circulated about thwarting an assassination attempt against the President during his visit to Daraa with the participation of the Syrian army and Turkish intelligence is completely untrue."
On Saturday evening, militants from the "Islamic State" organization attacked the house and car of an oil well investor in a town east of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, with machine guns. A local source said that "organization militants attacked with machine guns a car belonging to a person named Nazem Al-Adnan, an oil well investor near his house in the town of Al-Hajna, east of Deir ez-Zor." The source added that "Al-Adnan managed to escape and hide in his house, so the organization's elements attacked the investor's house again, and clashes broke out between them, resulting in only material damage." The source pointed out that "Al-Adnan received threats hours before from the organization's elements via WhatsApp for refusing to pay Zakat." Yesterday, Saturday, unknown gunmen targeted a financial remittance office of the "Al-Saed" company in the town of Al-Shuhail in the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside, amid accusations against the organization of being involved in the attack.
Turkey and Syria signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of international land transport, which allows the transport of goods between the two countries directly through border crossings, without the need for transfers or swapping shipments. This came according to what was reported by the "Anatolia" agency from the Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdul Qadir Ural Oglu, during his participation in the "Global Transport Corridors" forum, which was held on Friday at the Istanbul Convention Center. Ural Oglu confirmed that this memorandum reactivates the international transport agreement via land routes signed between Turkey and Syria in 2004, and will contribute to the resumption of direct commercial transport operations, which will speed up the movement of goods and reduce logistical costs. The minister explained that this step will allow direct access for goods from Turkey to the Arab Gulf countries and Jordan, through Syrian territory, which enhances the role of Ankara and Damascus in regional supply chains.
Dozens of settlers stormed the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque this morning, Sunday, from the "Al-Maghariba" gate, under heavy protection from the occupation police. The "Islamic Waqf Department" in occupied Jerusalem (affiliated with Jordan) reported that dozens of settlers stormed Al-Aqsa and organized provocative tours in its courtyards. It explained that the intruders performed Talmudic rituals in the eastern area of the mosque. Al-Aqsa Mosque is subjected daily to a series of raids and violations, in an attempt to impose new Judaizing facts and complete control over the mosque, and to divide it temporally and spatially.
The occupation army spokesman announced this morning, Sunday, the deployment of the "Gilad 96" division on the border with Jordan. He pointed out that the Jewish army expects an escalation of threats on the eastern border with Jordan, and Hebrew media indicated that with the start of Operation "Rising Lion", the formation of Division "96" was completed within 48 hours, with the aim of strengthening and doubling the number of forces deployed on the eastern border in various protection tasks. It added that the military force completed a drill last week on emergency scenarios and providing a rapid response to emergency events, while raising the division's readiness for combat.
