A young man was killed and three others were injured, yesterday evening, as a result of two new assassinations in the Daraa Governorate in the south of the country. The "Ahrar Horan Gathering" said that the young man, Kamal Al-Hindawi, was killed after being targeted by direct gunfire from unknown gunmen on the western bridge in Daraa Al-Balad. Likewise, a medical source reported that Ahmed Al-Kayed, Muhammad Abdul Wahab, and Ahmed Al-Saleh were injured to varying degrees as a result of gunfire with machine guns by unknown persons who randomly targeted those present during a wedding in the village of Nahtah in the eastern Daraa countryside. The motives behind the shooting in the two incidents are unknown, according to the Gathering, which confirmed that the targeted young men were civilians.
Official sources reported that the Syrian Internal Security arrested today Ali Al-Zoeil, one of the most prominent leaders of what was known as the "Baath Battalions" in the town of Subaikhan, located in the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside. The government newspaper "Al-Furat" confirmed that the arrest came after a careful follow-up carried out by the competent security authorities, without clarifying further details about the charges leveled or the place of detention of "Al-Zoeil." "Ali Al-Zoeil" was known for his close ties with the security services of the defunct regime during the first years of the Syrian revolution, as he was considered one of the most prominent local figures who assumed roles in party mobilization and incitement against the popular movement in the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside.
The Syrian Ministry of Interior published, on Tuesday, pictures of those involved in the bombing of the Mar Elias Church in the Al-Dweil’a neighborhood of Damascus, which led to the death and injury of dozens of civilians. The Interior Ministry stated, in a post on Facebook, that the photos belong to members of the cell affiliated with the Islamic State organization who were involved in the suicide bombing that took place in the Mar Elias Church in the Al-Dweil’a neighborhood of Damascus. According to the spokesman for the Syrian Ministry of Interior, the preliminary results of the investigations showed that the cell is officially affiliated with the "Islamic State" organization, has no connection to advocacy or local parties, and is led by a Syrian named Muhammad Al-Jumaili, who was known as the "Governor of the Desert" within the organization, and is from the Al-Hajar Al-Aswad area south of Damascus. The spokesman for the Syrian Interior Ministry said that the suicide bomber who carried out the bombing inside the Mar Elias Church, and the other suicide bomber who was arrested before carrying out his operation, were both non-Syrian and arrived in Damascus via the Syrian desert coming from the Al-Hol camp, with the help of Al-Jumaili.
The Latakia Water Corporation reported a water outage in several neighborhoods in the city and other areas in the governorate, due to the explosion that occurred near the Al-Sin spring in the Banias countryside, this morning, Wednesday. In a statement, the Water Corporation said that the first and second extraction lines stopped working as a result of the explosion near the Al-Sin spring, which led to the cessation of water pumping to the entire southern region of the city of Latakia, in addition to some other areas. This Wednesday morning, strong and successive explosions echoed between the Jableh and Banias regions on the Syrian coast, amid rising columns of smoke and the outbreak of fires. Official sources reported that the sounds of explosions that were heard and the columns of smoke that were seen in the Jableh countryside were the result of a fire breaking out at a former military site, which led to the explosion of a number of missiles inside it.
Dozens of Syrians coming from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq began entering Al-Hasakah Governorate this morning, Wednesday, through the Semalka border crossing, about 24 hours after they were prevented from entering by the authorities of the "Syrian Democratic Forces" (SDF), under the pretext that they did not belong to their national identity. The incident had sparked a wave of anger at the popular level, after the circulation of video clips and testimonies of dozens of Syrian families, including women and children, who were expelled from the crossing under the pretext that they were "not Kurds," despite the expiration of their residencies in the region and the inability of many of them to pay the fines due on them or the costs of return tickets by air. Under the pressure of the media campaign and popular criticism, the SDF authorities today reversed their previous decision and allowed Syrians to enter without imposing the condition of having a sponsor.
Vice Admiral and nominee for head of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), Brad Cooper, confirmed that the "Islamic State" organization still poses a threat in Syria, noting that the U.S. military presence in Syria remains necessary to deal with it. In statements during his confirmation hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee, Cooper said that "there is a continuing need for a U.S. military presence, even if partial, in Syria," stressing the need to "study the complex situation in Syria before making additional reductions in U.S. forces." Cooper, who currently serves as Deputy Commander of U.S. Central Command, which oversees U.S. forces in the Middle East, explained that the U.S. military presence in Syria is "indispensable in carrying out the mission of combating the Islamic State organization." Cooper considered that the United States' support for the Syrian government, headed by Ahmed Al-Shara, "was a sound choice," stressing that it is "an essential partner in the campaign against the organization."
On the 100th day of the resumption of the war of extermination against Gaza, sources in hospitals in the Gaza Strip reported that the death toll had risen to 51 martyrs in the occupation's bombing of the Strip since dawn today, including 14 of those awaiting aid. Sources in hospitals in the Strip stated that 89 Palestinians had been martyred since dawn yesterday, Tuesday, by the occupation forces' fire, including 56 of those awaiting aid in the Netzarim area in the central Strip and Rafah. Meanwhile, the occupation army admitted the killing of an officer and 6 soldiers in battles in the southern Gaza Strip, in a complex ambush to which the occupation soldiers were exposed in Khan Yunis. The occupation army also admitted the injury of 16 others from the engineering battalion in the resistance ambush, noting that the seven soldiers were completely burned after an explosive device exploded in an engineering armored vehicle in Khan Yunis. In the occupied West Bank, a Palestinian child was martyred by occupation fire east of Ramallah, while the occupation army continued to demolish homes in the camps.
The ceasefire agreement between Iran and the Jewish entity entered its second day after a 12-day war. In the latest developments, the Iranian parliament approved a draft law to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, pending its ratification by the Guardian Council. This comes at a time when the American "NBC" network revealed a secret assessment of the American attacks on Iran, explaining that it was referred to Congress and that members of the Senate reviewed it in secret. It said that the initial intelligence assessment of the attack revealed that the bombing delayed Iran's nuclear program for months but did not disrupt it. Trump announced earlier on Tuesday evening that an agreement had been reached for a complete ceasefire, while U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that his country had completely destroyed Iran's ability to manufacture nuclear weapons. For its part, Tel Aviv announced its agreement to Trump's ceasefire proposal, but Netanyahu threatened to target Iran again if it tried to rebuild its nuclear program, considering that Tel Aviv had achieved most of its goals from the war. In return, Tehran confirmed the cessation of the war and that it had emerged victorious from it, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that "the Zionist entity failed to achieve the goals of its aggression, and Iran will not violate the ceasefire unless the entity violates it."
U.S. President Donald Trump said that Tel Aviv was severely damaged in recent days, and he also said that he had achieved a great victory in Iran, and that if he had not destroyed the Iranian facilities, it would not have been possible to reach a settlement with the Iranians. The U.S. President also expressed his belief that they are making great progress in Gaza because of the strike carried out by the United States in Iran, and he said that he will have good news about Gaza soon, noting that the strike on Iran will help release the prisoners held in Gaza, adding that envoy Steve Witkoff told him that an agreement on Gaza is near. Trump was speaking at a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte upon his arrival at the NATO summit in The Hague, Netherlands, today, Wednesday.
