The Director of Civil Defense in the Syrian coast, Abdul Kafi Kayal, said in a statement to the "SANA" agency that the efforts made resulted in relative progress in controlling some fire sites, pointing to the continuation of work to contain the fires that threaten new green areas. According to Kayal, the efforts are focused on three main areas currently exposed to fires, namely Ras al-Bassit, Qastal Ma'af, and Rabia, with an intensive effort to stop the spread of fires towards the Kessab area, which includes the largest forest reserve in Syria. He pointed out that the firefighting operations are carried out with the participation of civil defense teams, forestry regiments, in addition to direct support from Turkish and Jordanian teams, within a joint field coordination.
