The International Monetary Fund Extends Its Hand to Strangle the Economy in Yemen to Seize Our Economic Capabilities

The Governor of the Central Bank of Aden, Ahmed Al-Maabqi, met in Washington, D.C., on 2025/10/15, with the head of the International Monetary Fund mission to Yemen, Esther Perez Ruiz, and the Fund's representative, Muhammad Muait, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Finance, Hani Wahab, and the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, Abdul Qader Amin. This was followed by a meeting between the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, the Governor of Yemen to the World Bank Group, Waed Badhib, and Ricardo Puliti, the Vice President of the International Finance Corporation for the Middle East, with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Planning, Nizar Basohaib, the Deputy Minister of Finance, Hani Wahab, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, Abdul Qader Amin, Stefan Guimbert, the Regional Director of the World Bank in the Middle East, and Dina Abu Ghaida, the World Bank Director in Yemen.

These two meetings came after being prepared for in Amman on 08 and 2025/10/09, between the Fund's mission and the head of the Aden government, Salem Saleh bin Brik, and Ahmed Al-Maabqi, Governor of the Central Bank of Aden, under the name of Article IV consultations between Yemen and the Fund, and the issuance of a final statement on them.

As for the first meeting, it was to discuss ways to continue the IMF's plans and programs and work on them in Yemen, which have been interrupted since 2014. And its technical and advisory role, such as supporting ways to recover the local currency by stabilizing the exchange rate, the level of foreign reserves, and enhancing financial stability in the country, through an executive plan for financial and monetary reform, and the continuation of reforms to ensure the flow of foreign loans, which Esther Perez Ruiz considered "a serious commitment to financial and administrative reform."

As for the second meeting, which is the most dangerous, it was to present the facilitation of the International Finance Corporation's infiltration into Yemen, in the form of the foreign private sector, through the investment window, which is now operating with a meager amount of $15.9 million in the food and health sector, and those behind it have their eyes on fisheries, the communications and submarine cables sector, and electricity sales projects all the way to the oil fields.

Before the government delegation flew to Washington, the ambassadors of the two colonial countries; Britain, Abdo Sharif, and France, Catherine Corm-Kammoun, held separate meetings in Amman with the Yemeni delegation, presenting their countries' services and offering their support for stability and development efforts in Yemen, and the government delegation was obediently receiving instructions, and this is not strange for these client rulers.

The three disastrous milestones; 1975, in which the World Bank was able to open a secret office in the Central Bank of Sana'a, 1995, in which the World Bank imposed financial and administrative reforms, and 2011, in which the International Monetary Fund entered, these milestones have tightened the connection of Yemen's economy to the capitalist economy. Thus, it has brought great evil to Yemen, and its people must get rid of its grip, which plans to keep it forever. As long as the capitalist system remains applied to us in Yemen and in all Muslim countries, we will not emerge from this disastrous situation, but we will continue to enter a new crisis every day.

The happiness and prosperity of the people of faith economically will be accompanied by the rest of the political and social affairs of life, international relations, etc., under the rule of Islam in the era of the second Rightly Guided Caliphate according to the method of Prophethood, for this is the only radical solution. It is unfortunate that this solution does not remain the focus of the nation's attention in all its forms.
