Humanity Disdains That We Enjoy While Our People Die of Hunger!
In the time of ignorance, before the light of prophecy had spread, a man from Quraish said something that humanity immortalized, even before prophecy refined it: "Humanity disdains that we enjoy while our people die of hunger." He said this as he saw the Bani Hashim, men, women, and children, writhing in hunger in the valley of Bani Talib, besieged without food or drink, while he and the people of Mecca were enjoying prosperity. This man and his companions did not wait for permission from anyone, but their feelings moved them, so they tore up the document of injustice, broke the siege, and stood with the oppressed, not driven by belief, but by a humanitarian motive.
So where are we compared to those?! Today, we see our brothers in faith and religion being subjected to the most heinous tragedy known to history, and we stand by, not lifting a finger!
Today, the tragedy is repeated, but perhaps in a more cruel and unjust guise; where children die of hunger, and a loaf of bread is snatched from the mouths of the hungry under a suffocating siege. An entire people is being exterminated before our eyes, and we are between spectators, helpless, and silent!
The disaster is no longer hidden, and the images are no longer deniable, as scenes from Gaza are broadcast live: a child looking for a piece of bread soaked in blood, a mother lamenting her children, hospitals unable to provide medicine, and homes demolished on their inhabitants. Where has our chivalry gone?!
How stark is the contrast! That a man from the people of ignorance moves out of a sense of mercy, while today, in the age of Western civilization and human rights, and in light of the distorted global conscience, the people of Gaza are left alone to face death, hunger, and destruction.
We have the power to break the siege and stop the massacres, but we are sitting idly by, stuffed by civilization. Silence at such moments is a betrayal and a letdown to the noblest and most honorable cause.
Humanity disdains that we enjoy while our brothers are dying of hunger. Let there be in us a remnant of that ignorant chivalry; perhaps it will be closer to the light than a civilization without a heart.
Where are those Arab armies from Gaza? When we look at the Arab armies, we see huge armies and huge armament budgets, but when Gaza cries for help, there is no one to answer! These armies, which were prepared to defend the nation, stand today watching what is happening to our brothers in Gaza. God Almighty will hold them accountable for every cry of a mother, and for every scream of an infant writhing from severe hunger. God will ask you, you who have forsaken your brothers in religion and faith.
O armies of the Islamic nation, let there be in you a remnant of the sense of a man in the time of ignorance, who knew that the blessing is not complete if the neighbor is hungry. Perhaps you will rise!
