Episode Eight
Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, and prayers and peace be upon the Imam of the pious, the master of the messengers, sent as a mercy to the worlds, our master Muhammad and upon all his family and companions, and make us with them, and gather us in their company by your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
O Muslims:
Dear listeners, listeners of the Media Office Radio of Hizb ut-Tahrir:
Peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you. After that: In this episode, we continue our reflections on the book "Elements of the Islamic Mentality." In order to build the Islamic personality, with attention to the Islamic mentality and the Islamic psyche, we say, with God's help: Abu Dawood narrated from Safiya bint Shaybah from Aisha, may God be pleased with her, that "she mentioned the women of the Ansar and praised them and said good things to them, and she said: When Surat Al-Nur was revealed, they went to their skirts and tore them and made veils out of them." Ibn Ishaq said: ... Al-Ash'ath bin Qais came to the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, in a delegation from Kindah. Al-Zuhri told me that he came with eighty riders from Kindah, and they entered the Messenger of God's mosque, peace and blessings be upon him, having combed their hair, and the Jumam is the plural of Jummah, which is thick head hair, and they wore kohl, and they wore robes of Hibra that they had lined with silk. When they entered upon the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, he said to them: "Have you not become Muslims?" They said: Yes. He said: "Then what is this silk on your necks?" He said: So they tore it off and threw it away.
Ibn Jarir narrated from Abi Buraydah, from his father, who said: "While we were sitting drinking our drinks, and we were on a sand dune, and we were three or four, and we had a bowl, and we were drinking wine lawfully, I stood up to come to the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, and greet him, when the prohibition of wine was revealed in His saying: {O you who believe, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful. Satan only wants to cause between you animosity and hatred through intoxicants and gambling and to avert you from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer. So will you not desist?}. (Al-Ma'idah 90) to the end of the two verses {So will you not desist}. I came to my companions and read it to them until his saying {So will you not desist}. He said: And some of the people had their drink in their hands, they had drunk some of it and some of it remained in the vessel, so he said with the vessel under his upper lip, as the cupper does, then they poured out what was in their bowl and said: We have desisted, our Lord."
O Muslims:
Hanzala bin Abi Amer, the one washed by the angels, may God be pleased with him, heard the call to the battle of Uhud, so he answered the call quickly. And he was martyred on the day of Uhud. Ibn Ishaq said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The angels are washing your companion, so ask his family what is his matter?" His wife was asked, and she was a bride to him that night. She said: He went out while he was in a state of impurity when he heard the caller. The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "That is why the angels washed him." Imam Ahmad narrated from Rafi' bin Khadij who said: "We used to sharecrop the land during the time of the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, and we would rent it out for a third, a quarter, and specified food. One day, a man from my uncles came to us and said: The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade us something that was beneficial to us, and obedience to God and His Messenger is more beneficial to us. He forbade us from sharecropping the land and renting it out for a third, a quarter, and specified food, and commanded the owner of the land to cultivate it or have it cultivated, and he disliked renting it out and anything else." Have you seen, brothers of faith, how quick the response was to God and His Messenger among all the Companions y?
So imitate them if you are not like them. Indeed, imitating the noble is success.
